Lets Have Some Fun

I think we should have a guitar battles thing on here. I'll start it. I'm going to make a cheesy rytheme for people to solo over. Then you can record yourself soloing over it on video, and post it on youtube, wherever.
I'm going to put a new topic up with a link of the track on March 8th.
Then one month later, April 8th i will have yet another topic section, asking for your links to your solo.
Judging will be done by me and whoever else wants too. If you're interested in judging or competing let me know.
The winner will be deaned the "All-Guitar-Chords Master" or something.

If interested in playing sign up below. Deadline for signing up will be March 20th. This should be interesting.

JUDGES CAN'T COMPETE!!! So i won't be. But i will solo over it.

I would love to enter the contest! I have been waiting to show everyone what I have been working on! I have been getting into the jazz fusion/modal jazz alot. Hopefully the track will be a bluesy jazz type of song...

anyways, Jazz is an AMAZING guitar player/musician. I listened to some of her stuff and I was blown away. :)

yeah I heard her stuff on her myspace, it was very inspirational, i dont think ive heard her play guitar yet though

I wanna play, we'll see if I have the time though.

yeah ... but 'competition' and music = oil and water.
and what would be 'good' or 'bad' (its all subjective). if its just some silly "look how fast i can move my fingers thang" the idea is laughable, and unimaginative ... if y'all are gonna do this you should "score" points for chordal-arrangement, and such as well.

but then i'm old and grumpy and getting fed up with my students (only 30% or so of 'em) wanting to 'play really really fast' whilst skipping E/Asus4 and other chords for the quick fix "shredding" gives them.
...It saddens me greatly (fer real man) but in THIS economy(or lack thereof) i will teach the two-finger 'chords' and focus on what lil-Johnny really wants to do...tap/sweep/etc..bleh.

which is also a matter of taste isnt it?... but yeah, I definately agree... but hey, thats where the trail is leading at these days, hundreds of youtube "shred this" or "some whatever" competitions, competitions...leads to some other competitions... result is what we already know, one line of "virtuosos" chosen by a one big grey mass... what works on the massess, there is not much to do but shake our heads or how it is old man? Yeah I know the answer.

Shredding is an technique, you can score or judge.
Music...can you score or judge that? partly yes... but partly no.

Aaand thats why Im gonna do as the title say, have some fun.

I'm not much for the judge idea either being it is all up to the personal taste of the judges. I we do it, I think we should just hold a poll after all the entries are in and have everyone vote on it.

I'd take into consideration that you're all obviously into different things, but I'm interested to see what you'd all come up with...

ALSO if you all do this, I think it'd be best not to post your videos until everyone who's entering is done - that way none of you get influenced by each other.

I still somehow wished to get full CD... No full DVD of your piano playing... (Im not against of mixing it with guitar... ...not indeed) and if you guys didnt tried red wine in the evening with her songs... I suggest that too XD. Soz Im not yet been subscribed there, but maybe I someday will.

I want the 3D blu-ray, 9.1 audio, Missy Chambers Live at Montreux. I've heard good things of that one

I am a big fan of space in music and think it is actually incredibly underused. imo, a great solo would have creativity, space, a litle bit of shredding, all put together in a manner that flows well. A couple of good examples of what I mean are Dimebag's solos on songs "10s" and "Flood". Just my $0.02.
