Very good Jazz. Except I'm not in the Marines :). That's just my rifle. But when I go down range I've got a M249 SAW:
@Ozzfan: That's an M-16 A2 and an M9. My favorite rifle is an M4 with a red ghost site, SF style. |

Nice pic GS. Gotta say my favorite for those kind of things is battle rifle M39 designed by Aimo Lahti. they fire the common 762x54r round and are very accurate so they are also cheap for the even bigger army. |

gotta love the M16 :)
and how does that SAW do with the recoil and such with the legs down? very little?
Sweet guns though, I'm a little jealous, the only full auto weapon I've ever shot was a vintage Tommy. Cool stuff

Haha yeah Carl we must have the best kind of chair in the world. Finally, someone I can relate to about that amazing chair!
I have a smaller air riffle in my attic...I'm not sure why I have it!I should proably ask about that! And GS when you remind me that you have lots of guns I naturally feel a little scared of you. Now I'm also scaed of Jazz for just talking about how she likes them! :P
EDIT: I've just been told my random attic riffle was used to shoot rats in the old house and rabbits from eating my uncle's lettuce. I feel a little better knowing actually why I have it there now. |

The 249 doesn't really havfe a whole lot of recoil man. But it has enough to throw off 40/40 accuracy so it's a good thing it's an automatic.
Heather says: And GS when you remind me that you have lots of guns I naturally feel a little scared of you.
No need to be afraid, I'm all about peace and love. But I do fire a 38/40 so just don't get in my sites.

The M16 is a great freaking rifle, accurate up to about 500 yards. but is can fire close to 800 yards if not more. |

Harley, random question but why do you wear those type of ear rings that stretch the lobe? I've always wondered why people do that.
Did you manage to get beer that night? That's a cool idea. |

My dad was in the AF back in the late 80s and he absolutely loved that rifle. Too bad they aren't public issued ;) or are they? |

Well, there is no such thing as a civilian issued military rifle. But you can buy an M16. THe only difference is, civilian M16's don't have the 'burst' fire option because it is against the law to have automatic weapons. But for pure sport, you would never need to fire three round bursts anyway. |

@GS
yeah, I would like to have one mainly just because I would like to go shoot down at the range sometimes. But, I'm fairly certain that my uncle, who's in the Army as well and station over in Seattle, has an AR-15, which is a semi auto M16(?), and an AR-10(again I'm not sure if this is the right model for the weapon).
Anywho, have you ever shot a 30/30? |

Yeah, I'd love to shoot with an M16 someday. But at them moment i didn't get over any foreign weapons, as we only have weapons from heckler&koch in the german army, but sweet pics! |

@case:
Our qualification is 28/40. I usually fire a 38/40. I've never fired 40/40 but I'll get it sooner or later, it's just a matter of getting out to the range a firing as often as you can. |

@Case:
An M16 is a semi automatic weapon. Semi auto means that, the weapon only fires one shot per trigger squeeze but your weapon reloads automatically. Also, to qualify in the US Army you only need to fire a 28/40 (50m, 75m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 250m and 300m targets). I usually a fire a 38/40. No, I've never fired a hawkeye (40/40) but I'll get therre eventually.

good shootin' tex! but I actually wasn't talking about shooting scores, I was talking about the caliber of the rifle, I own a 30/30 rifle from back in the 30's or possibly even the 20's.
Ever shot one? |

im not a Buddhist however in eastern culture a large earlobe is a sign of wisdom therefore every year or so since i was about 14 i stretch my ear up a mil as a kind of marker for the accumulation of knowledge over time (makes me sound like a silly hippie i know). similarly i am not a Rastafarian however one of the reasons Rasta's grow their hair into dreads is as a sigh of the period of personal growth spanning from youth through adolescence and onwards, i find the idea rather poetic thus I got dreads, well that and the fact that I had way too much hair and didn’t know what else to do with it:

StayBabyStay says: I know, I'm not the best looking.
This is a little late but I just noticed that post.
Now SBS, why would you say that? huh? Cut yourself a break kid, you're the best looking guy in that pink shirt! (might want to change it from pink to maybe dark green or something but.....).
I knew a guy who used to say stuff like that. always putting himself down. Turns out he's one MOTHER of a guitar player and he's maturing into one hell of a guy! The babes are all over this kid now! no lie!
Calls himself Elliott
Someday who knows maybe you can call yourself Elliott too. Meanwhile enjoy the ride and don't ever let me hear you put yourself down again ok?. Don't make me come to Canada and kick your a$$!

Granted!
And Phip, if you're going to keep threatening to come and kick the new member's asses, I ought to warn you. I'm going to America some point early next year, after going without a holiday for 7 years I will use that oppertunity well to come up all the way from Florida with my gang of chickens (we travel together)and get them to peck your eyes out!
And really SBS, you look fine. Particularly for a guy in a SALMON shirt. You are truly the best guy I've seen in a salmon shirt. Men in salmon shirts do like to call them salmon instead of pink don't they? |

OMG, the chickens are coming to America! Is no place safe? Hey don't you have to stay in quarentine for a couple of weeks when you get here? (that's not a town) Ummm well I don't see why you can't use Elliott's room while you are here; everyone else uses it! He has a sheep you know. So you are going to Disney? That's nice. You can get one of those black hats with the ears and take a picture for us in front of the castle! haha Bring plenty of seed, I don't think most restaraunts serve that over here. Come up to New England and visit your old uncle Phip and bring your guitar, we'll chicken pick a few tunes!
LOL

Drat! I forgot about quarenteen! It's so degrading. It makes me feel like I'm diseased or something. Stay in quarenteen here in the UK for like 72 days before you go, then however long in America too. It's just plain insulting! Yeah I'm going to the Orlando Disney Land. I was disappointed that my family (and the chickens) decided we'd do that instead of my idea of wanting to go to Austrailia to watch wild saltie crocodile's in lakes on litttle boats and pick up wild native snakes(no, really. I think it sounds like fun! Despite how dangerous they think that is) but Orlando isn't so bad a compromise I suppose.
I'm not allowed to buy any more silly hats :( I have a wicker cowboy hat, a felt cowboy hat, a classic trillby fedora hat and a chicken hat (like a chicken that sits on your head.) Apparently If I buy any more, that's when I'm wasteing my money. I don't know why, but I can never say no to a silly looking hat...
But I'll be sure to buy you a SALMON shirt when I'm there Phip, it will go well with your sandels! :P |
