Jess,
I'm going to suggest (god forbid!) a second website to get you started. It's free and you will pick up a lot of very good beginner info there.
If you add what you can learn here AND there you will get off to a good start.
here it is http://www.justinguitar.com/

Haha, serious? thanks for correcting me! I alwas thought hes from england. Don't they sound a bit similar? (I am not a native speaker, so I can't tell the difference that well)
Also, I would suggest playing all the strings open in between chords if you cannot switch very fast. ( I forgot what the chord is named where you play all the strings open.) As you progress you will be able to switch chords fast enough to where you wont play all the strngs open. Who knows you might be quick at doing chords right now. Just a little advice is all.
I 2nd the open chords suggestion. E, A minor and G are the easiest I believe.
gshredder2112 suggests you Learn B major and F major but I respectfully say that's ridiculous. Work on the easy ones first for a month before you start trying things that will guarantee you to flail.
