Oh how I love this topic!! New music and skill rolling into my brain :D Thanks for introducing me guys!

@ Carl, you are indeed a legend! You're like a jukebox! It's awesome. Spastic Ink are amazing, I need more!

@ Alex, you're increadibly versitile! (Honestly, I was begining to think I was near enough the only one who REALLY liked every style) What genre got you started into the music crave?

@ Ozz, well my friend, music can take control sometimes and all other emotions fade away. (For me anyway)

Hey Jazz!! I like Almost every style! i went to a concert today,a jazz band was playing,it was like avant garde jazz,i left from there with a headache,so no ultra complex avant garde jazz fusion for me!! nor alternative pop rock or punk ha!

Anyways, aside from those i enjoy everything! why i began to play guitar is because of the Blues,it got into me so deep,i could never leave it,before the blues,i liked artist like Michael Jackson and some of the upbeat electronic music that was being made by then, not much interest tho...so yeah, the Blues with Clapton,Latin with Santana And Country/Rock With The Eagles Were the ones that started it all!!

BTW Another band! : Indialucia !!! Mix of Flamenco Mediterranean music And Indian Traditional Music! i discovered these guys by random on the first weeks of playing guitar(4 years ago),and until recently i could Find some material by Them,Their album is Pure Magic! chek it

mmhh..... i did really liked indialucia, quite like something i never heard before...

Tower of power was ok, good music.

About Lawson Rollins, my personal point of view is that he has an amazing technique, even in acoustic he can shred like few in the electric. Anyways, shredders will always be.

i really liked the cover of Jazz is the teacher funk is the prayer

Soy, I love Noir Desir! Not the kind of montage I would've expected for that song, but cool nonetheless. Viva el Che!

@Damien: Bullet For My Valentine is not a band they're an f'in travesty take your bullet for your valentine and shove it deep deep up your ass, it can go right up there next to your funeral for a friend.

oww lets all wine about how my girlfriend split up with me and wear jeans so tight they crush the last drops of masculinity that it might of been possible to salvage, bullet for my valentine is poor-grade POP music its not rock or metal its just an accumulation of badly worded cliches. i admit that maybe some of the 'musicians' in the band could possibly be said to have talent however that is being squandered producing low-grade junk like that.

im sorry but there is soo much more to music than that please, please go listen to somthing better for your own sake.

may i remind you also that the title of this thread is 'bands people haven't heard of but SHOULD' not bands people haven't heard of because they suck.

I Admit They Are Like That, But I Still Like Some Stuff Like That, But Thats Me.
But You Have To be Like That To be Noticed, It Sucks Really.
But Anyway, I Found A Guitarist Called Rod Degeorge And I Liked It Alot, He Is Creative And Sounds Really Good.

I'd have to say Granger Smith and his band. They're a band still, just the kind where the lead vocalist and guitarist gets about all the credit though lol. They all sound great together. More people should know them I feel.

And another called 'OutLett' who added me on MySpace back when I had it. I'm not really into heavy metal and alternative rock, but I have to admit they did sound amazing.

Spastic Ink

Awesome, I didn't expect anybody to name them, haha. Ron Jarzombek is one of my favorite guitarists. Blotted Science is also pretty cool, as someone else mentioned previously. I've tried to get my hands on some Watchtower, too, but it's hard to come by. Here are some bands that you might enjoy (you've probably heard of them, but maybe haven't listened to very much):

Animals as Leaders (Tech-prog metal)
Thrice (Newer stuff - alternative/experimental)
Umphrey's McGee (Prog jam band)
Obscura (Tech-death)
Explosions in the Sky (Post rock)

i am also a big zebrahead fan (MFZ,B!)but i also think they are known enough. they had their time in the sun. the band isn't the same since the original lead singer departed, but the new guy has the same style and the new music is, if nothing else, fun.

bands nobody has heard of... i'm going to go with matt mahaffey aka sElf. matt mahaffey is freakign AWESOME. he released a ton of albums as "sElf" including "gizomdgery" an entire album recorded using nothing but toy musical instruments. he even had a track on MTV ("low") for a brief period of time.

his latest project is called "wired all wrong" it is a duo of him and jeff turzo, one of the members of "god lives underwater" another kickin' '90s electrogrunge band (in the same vein as gravity kills).

wired all wrong is a pretty heavy and very catchy album. sorry, the album is called "break out the battle tapes"

mahaffey also writes a ton of music for commercial jingles. "expedia dot cooooooom" is him, and it cracks me up every time i hear it because you can recognize his goofy voice.

i'm also a fan of brendan small, be it his cartoons, dethklok, or his guitar work for his show "home movies".
