gee soy, I never tried that stuff so I don't know. could you send me some (maybe and once) and i'll try it and let you know! LOL
you can make the arguement that it is no more harmful than a few beers. to make your point pass a few joints around the class and i guarantee you will win the debate. (bring chips and pretzels)

agood arguement against any negative effects is positive effects such as euphoria, confidence, its relaxing. not that ive done it or anything. umm ive seen various medical cases where the patient needs it for pain killers i dont know, things like that are always good. |

Legalization would inevitably lead to millions of tax dollars which uptight d-bags who demonize the stuff always like. Money, that is. |

There was recently a post on CNN.com about legalization written by a respected economist. It was really well written and had a lot of really valid points. I would check there to see if you can still find it. |

hi, well ive been saying this for a qwhile so ill give u my input.
economy:
leagalizing it would make the economy go up b/c you can tax the living hell outta it and charge a lot for it and people would buy b/c of addiction
btw the nederlands do this for that reason
stop drug wars in mexico and us. stop drug gangs. make it more safe to kids who try it (weed is made cheaper by it being mixed with many other very dangorous cheap drugs, pure weed is much more expensive. |

It wouldn't be a be all end all fix by any means, EMB. Any sort of boost the taxation would give to the economy would be quite small and there are other things like regulation of plantations that would cost the government money. |

hey che, u can argue that it helps against the narcotraphic, due that anyone can sell it and is not just a monopolized "industry", so u can argue the economistic benephit that it makes incomes to the country |

In high school I did a whole project on legalizing marijuana. And I got a B+! Not only would we be able to tax the heck out a a product that 80% of the nation has admitted to at least trying; it would also create thousands of jobs. Farmers and farmhands, distributors, and everything that goes with growing a cash crop. Especially in these hard times people will be buying it to up to ease the stress. The long term negative health affects are not that bad and are definitely not as bad as alcohol. No cirrhosis of the liver from pot.
And are you talking about legalization or decriminalization? That would change your argument a little. As for some good resources check out www.norml.org. (Nation Organization for the Reformation of Marijuana laws) You might wanna look at erowid.org. There's just a lot of good scientific information on the drug itself. You could compare Marijuana to tobacco can alcohol for part of an argument.
Hope that helps! |

you could say that it would lower the amount of ummm, violence or anger in people that would smoke and toke, plus it would lower the amount of gangs trying to sell the stuff, which goes back to the violence part |

As for the so called "War on Drugs", it is just a Bull**** war that has spent billions of dollars padding the pockets of the police, District Attorney's, and handfuls of other people that benefit from a disease that some people are afflicted with. Mandatory minimum sentences keep non violent drug offenders in jails while we, the American tax payer, pays for these guys to have food and health care when some of use can't afford it for ourselves. Sorry, kind of started a rant there. |

How many People have Died because of weed? How about Cars? Beer/booze? Smoking? ...........Lightning!? Case closed.
The Gov. just hasnt found a way to stop people from growing it, so they can be the only ones to grow it and sell it.

Haha, well as long as it IS just a school project, soy!
Here's a link to why some people think cannabis should be legal. I know it's different, but it might more or less be the same for reasons. http://www.luuonline.com/studentactivities/polandcampgroups/legalisecannabis.php
And here's one for medical marjuna in vending machines: http://current.com/items/88823989/smoke_em_if_you_can_use_an_atm.htm
Now those are just since you want positives...I'm not for it! Don't worry about me, really. I am NOT for it!
All I can think of. Hope it helps. (And PLEASE don't ask how I knew those links, I have my reasons) |

The more I think about it, the more I see it difficult for Marijuana to be legalized.
Im really dissapointed about the drug wars in Mexico.
Next time you light up a joint or sherm stick or snort a line or whatever think about what happened for it to get to you.
I like how you spelled Marijuana "Marihuana" |

You should check out this movie called "Super High Me." It's like "Super Size Me" but instead of eating Mcdonald's for 30 days this guy is high all day for 30 days. It's funny and informative. |

i just finished giving a debate on the war on drugs, if you want the economy to benefit from this you should fight to get it decriminalized, because theres a difference between dicriminalization and legalization. decriminalization would be to put a heavy tax on it, or make it for medical use, or have permits given to select few to use it, or let certain age groups use it. Tobacco and alcohol are decriminalized. |

All the points above are valid. Economy, everything. It would create jobs as well. I have a lot of experience with ganja, and it has never led me to try other drugs, and or get in any car accidents. I go to college and maintain a 3.3 gpa. |

It's still legal to smoke weed in Canada, right?
Problem solved! Live in Canada! :D
Agreed with everyone really, weed is a lot safer than booze. And it's a pain release, like morphine.
It just depends on which country you're in, because it's the frame of mind given to us by the rules of the government. If we hear it's not allowed we'll be lead to believe it's bad, if we were in a country where it was allowed, we would think "big deal". So it has a lot to do with the government polluting our frame of mind.

Well, following links are good to check if you wish to get "trustable references". If there any, because so many myths are turned to facts and so many facts are turned to myths in past decade...
http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=6376&page=R1
(IOM - Institute of medicine) First pages are for who were involved. Worth to mention and actual stuff starts at page IVV
http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/
also good page, but can be considered as one sided point of view though have very strong argumentations.
http://www.drugabuse.gov/
Here is good source for information, though it can also consider one sided, but opposite.
also is worth to search info and statistic of netherlands, how things there affected to criminal activities or violence. I didnt had time to look links sorry.
Hope these help with your project.

the only reason marijuana is illegal is because a paper manufacturer found out that hemp could be made into paper like wood, causeing him toll lose money so he filed a ban for it. kinda like oli companies and the EV. dam corperations. |

the drafts where written in hemp(contains almost no TCH it's a different plant just in the same family) paper which is a cheap fiber used for many fiber uses(rope, paper stuff like that) and still used today they however wrote the final decoration on much nicer paper |

The declaration of independence was written on parchment just like anything else like that. Parchment is made from animal skin. Hemp is any cannabis plant. As for the drafts made on it, this is the source its coming from,

so that would be debatable id imagine. |

look up the Shafer commision. in 1972 it was a commision of senators that unanimaously agreed that marijuana should be legalized. it released a report titled "Marihuana: A Signal Of Misunderstanding" look that up and quote the hell out of it. |

aw gawd here we go!
(i am biting my lip off in an ttempt to avoid one of my healthcare-rants)
my doc(s) t r i e d the "pill" route (yeah cause i NEED another freaking pill to take w/ the 37 (8 Rx's) effin' pills i gotta gulp down all damn day )
the pills (pot pills ) don't do sh!t and cost $595 a month.
lesse...
weed = $120 a mo
a n d
pot-pills = $590 a mo
...that is one easy as hell "choice" !
i have a chronic/acute-disease (and more than a 'few' injuries from hell) that make weed the only way i can :
1- remember to eat
2- eat
3- keep it down
I also don't dry heave as much, only (AVG) 5 or 6 times a week now (was per day)
and it aint like i dont take care o' me , hell i quite ALL smoking 20 years ago , this is (8years) now new again.
i am a non smoker(occasional Cigar) who works-out daily, bench-presses 490 lbs, and eats like a 'granola-headed "tree-hugger" on a jag, lol.
but
after three drunks in cars hitting me on my Harley...3-times
and
Falling off a 150ft cliff'
being shot
being stabed
and having a mean chronic disease ..
...well, pass that freakin' bong!
RAWK!

Glad someone else 'fessed-up'

case211 says: Do you double as the entire security staff for your gigs too?! lol
actually, Mike(plays B-Bender, Sing Back-vox), is bigger than Scott (Fretless-Bass, bk-Vox), and Scott is bigger than me LOL! (Bobby, our drummer is smaller but a scrapper from hell)... so we never really have ever had to ask 'where's the door money?' or state 'the guarantee was 1,500 M****RF***ER!' ...lol
Mike and I ( and our Wives) are "the lifters", he's really into squats and 'deads', my back (cliff fall) is in pieces lol, so no dead lifting fer me... but sure 490-no prob =) thats after a few sets ... as a 1-up i hit 525(or 520/30 ... damned odd plate weights , all in '5's, dig?)
funny rec-RAWK!-thang =
Bobby wasn't in one night at the studio (not mine) and Mike (damn good drummer himself!) was gonna play this fairly simple drumline ... but ... he had 'gone heavy' on legs that day, hahaha, his foot just kept B_B_B _ B__ BBB_ splat! LOL!
"no legs before we record!"
is now an artifact on the new cd ... 'm gonna sneak it in somewhere. hehehe
he'll chase me round this town hahaha!
i'm 43 so the toke no toke toke thang has been off and on... now its a needed thang though.
my wife gave it up a few years back overnight fer no (understandable) reason (wtf?)
but Hanx! man! ...really
been watching yer posts ... yer a good egg ... methinks yer karma just went up ;~)

I'm pretty sure everyone has tried it apart from 1 or 2; not trying to pressure you guys to try it though... it's cool that you stand up for yourselves.
But, like my earlier post, I don't consider it to be 'bad'; just a different way to enjoy yourself. Also, by analysing a fair few people, I'm certain weed affects men differently to women. As most guys I've asked honestly said it's occasionally better than sex. Not to mention the reactions are different.&the gals didn't enjoy the 'slowness' after awhile. |

Yeah, I ummmm, play guitar a lot when I am. i mean a lot, like I feel like I slow down my playing a bit and actually have a little bit more emotion. Usually very happy emotions because you know, the laughing just doesn't seem to stop until I start to play. But the slowness is still very much there. :p
@carlsnow
LOL I did a 20 rep max on legs one day back in Sophomore year and actually ended up doing 145 29 times. Apparently I wasn't touching some bar(I was millimeters away!) and the rest of the day I literally could not walk right...Stumbling into class, nearly faceplanting going up stairs, faceplanting going into class! it was bad, 20 rep bench was probably worse though. I had flat bench 20 rep w/ 135 and incline w/ 135. I couldn't lift my arms up past my shoulders!
And the most I ever benched was 10 pounds over what I weighed, which added up to 185, so when you say 495+ I am like "...damn..." lol |

@Jazzy..?
no pressure or lack of needed (but appreciated)
for me (ONLY speaking fer me) its (weed) a medical necessity and was prompted (i had quite 20 years or so ago) by a host of Doctors, Nurses and 'specialists' .... Dig?
( still it has a nice effect at night when playing 'Close To The Edge'(Yes, 1972) prior to sleep...lol)
@case211
LOL (yer story)!!!
i weigh 230 (no fat to speak of, lol, esp fer a geezer) and (have worked out since 9) when i was diagnosed (a few times lol) i started to want(need?) to REALLY keep my mental state in the positive, dig?
which required me to "beat this sh!t" and take out my immense frustration in the Gym. So i said (6 years ago) to myself you WILL bench twice yer weight!!-You WILL push harder than before! etc..
so: that Gym is where i take out 95% of my anger/frustration/revenge/sadness/etc-etc ON my condition(s) and disease.
It helps s oooooooooooooo much.
when i had to sell my martial arts school i was beyond depressed
but i had the GYM
when this sh!t made me a basic shut-in (but for gigs etc)
I used the Gym
and the more i hurt the better i lift LOL..
so .. case211, wherever you are 'at', weight-strength-aerobic-etc in or out of the Gym ... let the PROCESS ("i'll grab 5pounds more next week b'gawd!") reward you.
i always tell the kids (16-26 or so) that venture into the "free-weight room" that
"its the drive not the weight" (aka- when i see someone grunting under 250 i am both impressed and pushed by that passion")(much like music!)
Yer "Leg story" RAWKS! ... mind if i tell Mike this evening?
BTW your very presence IN a gym says a LOT about yer character ...all-good, bro .. all good.
i hereby declare-ith that: Thou Dost RAWK!
keep at it
guitar
and weight training!!!
made me smile a mile bro!

That was an interesting day waltzing into spanish! I could barely stand lol
I love to lift weights, in any gym I always eyeball the squat rack, I used to squat 285, I'm down to 225, which still isn't bad, but I lost 60 pounds there! |
