Whats your favorite tone you might have heard from another artist?
I personally have alot but two of my favorites are the sound from Jessica by the Allman brothers, and for a more heavy sound I really like John Petrucci's tone in Glasgow Kiss.

Larry Carlton

+1 billion. Larry Carlton = Best tone ever.

Every time I hear him solo, it melts my soul.

But, I think my main tone influences come from my heart. I am an effects junky. I find it really hard to find a tone I like without a load of effects.

Either that, or I copy Dimebag.

Tony Iommi, Terry Kath, Frank Zappa, Eddie Hazel, Richie Kotzen, and Wolfgang Muthspiel.

There's probably more.

I can't seem to find a tone that I absolutely love from anyone. I may like a lot of guitar players, but I don't really like their tone all that much. I know... I'm wierd. Anyone else like that? I think I am on the quest for the perfect tone lol

If I could play faster than Yngwie's tone would be fun to use.

David Gilmour clean and dirty tones a la "Comfortably Numb" and "Hey You".
EVH through the Roth albums.
Mustaine's rhythm tone off of Rust has always been a personal favorite, and Marty Friedman's tone on his leads on that album are a favorite as well.
