Just curiosity here, but how much time do you devote to playing your guitar? Let's say weekly.
I get busy with work, family, other obligations, but I can usually play about 8 hours or so per week. |

I've probably got around 16 hours this week however during a school week with work to do etc I only get around 7 hours.
I'm actually starting to feel guilty over the 16 hours this week because I need to be revising... |

V3nom: how many songs do you know? What do you do as a lesson plan? I'm fascinated. |

i know about 10 songs haha.....im not a big fan of covers. first i do an hour warm up...practice and learn scales and chords for about 3......then learn licks and practice techniques..... after "practice" is over i jam to backing tracks an make my own original lick to add to my "v3" style of music......and i learn theory from my pops |

I try, and I mean really try to squeeze in 2 or 3 hours a week. If I am lucky I'll get 4 hours. It's a shame and the lack of practice really takes its toll on my technique. However, way back when I was very much the same as V3NOM. I played a minimum of 8-10 hours a day during the week, and quite possibly 15+ hours a day on the weekend. Most of it was jam sessions/live gigs/practice.
Rock on! |

Until about a month ago, every spare second I had was playing guitar.
Now I'm lucky if I get 5 minutes per day. |

I do have a classical guitar under my desk at work, now that you mention it, so maybe another hour a week! |

@Venom
I'm not a huge fan of covers either(though with a band, they are more fun)
I generally try to play for around 4-6 hours per day. I have to jam in the garage since the house has no sound cancelling properties anywhere inside, and since it's June, Phoenix is pretty warm most of the day. That really gets rough when you sweat all over your guitar :( Humidity, thankfully is non-existant :D
EDIT: so in the week I usually get between 24-30 hours of playing in. |

During school I try to get in a few hours everyday. I will always do something on guitar a minimal for 15 mins, better then nothing. Most day I can put in about two hours.
As for piano I put why to much like 4 hours (when I should be working on homework) or nothing at all. I'm trying to be more disciplined.

In my twenties and thirties I played everyday from 1 to 5 hours a day. Now, with 2 kids and a job, I'm lucky if I get an hour a week! I played my electric for the first time in months on Sunday. Maybe once every other week I'll go to Guitar Center at lunch and play for a half hour or so. |

define "play"
my guitars sit out and whenever i'm on the couch watching TV, i've got ag uitar in my hands. but i'm not really "practicing" or "playing". i might play a song all the way through, but not to a metronome or backing track.
actual playing i don't play nearly enough. but i recently got a bike and have been tearing that up a lot lately... it's been taking away from my guitar time... |

Play would mean that your holding the guitar, and fretting and plucking notes.Doesnt matter how.Be it a song,or pratice run. |
