Name your favorite scale, don't forget the key.
I love C# major, most people hate it because (unless you have changed your tuning) is vary hard to play on other instruments like cello. If your a pianist it is vary easy and feels fun, but other wise you have to change things a little.
As for a vary interesting scale, Pelog (H-W-WH-WW-H-H) in any key is really amusing. Like C Pelog - C,C#,Eb,F#,A#,B.
Whats your favorite, and most intriguing scale(s)?

My favorite scale is in the key of A but I cant figure out a name for it. it is a minor pentatonic with a major 3rd (A,C#,D,E,G,A). it sounds really happy. So Id say that one fits both categories I think. |

I like to use the Japanese scale a TON. sounds very melodic yet different and really lets me break away from all the flurries of notes(sort of like busting into a pentatonic for a little bit), it helps me break things up a little bit so the solo isn't just a frenzy of notes :) that and I love japanese music |

@Null
Mainly Japanese (A) but I like the other ones too... My particular liking of it, is the shapes too, they make for fun transitions and interesting bends.

I love C minor.
Dorian, Pentatonic. C minor is just great.
I mix up scales a lot though. Like a C major but with a B flat in the scale instead of B. Just whatever sounds best. |

one thing I like to do is use different keys in my lead playing for one solo or lick. If the key is B Minor I will usually use a B Minor scale(Like B Dorian or Phrygian). It's more interesting in the long run IMO and it gives me more choice for what I have to work with. Plus some notes even though they aren't in key technically, will sound awesome. |
