Hi guys,
This will be my first post glad to be here.
I play the same style as Rodrigo y Gabriela, two crazy mexican due's
Here is a video of me playing hope you enjoy it.
Cool glad you liked it! Ive been playing for about 2 years now. Ever since i saw these two play I just needed to do the same :-P Cant sing though but hopefully my guitar will do the singing ^_^
damn don't you just love flamenco. my only opinion is maybe you could add something to the first break to "throw it over a bit more" with out the melody/solo guitarist i feel it's a bit out. Good track
also side topic(it seems to always happen) I've always thought a Hurdy Gurdy would go great with Spanish guitar flamenco but it never leaves it's buddy the fiddle.
also thanks for the post i didn't know they came out with a new album. where is Emp? he would like this
Thanks for having me :)
Played a gig tonight and it was a good success.
Learning new things everyday after work, just wished i had more time on my hands. Any advice to help me improve would be much appreciated! thanks!
well Rodrigo y Gabriela is a more "modern" flamenco with other interest. Maybe you could look into more traditional Flamenco and getting your Rasgueados, finger taps, playing single note with fingers instead of thumb/pick(paco de lucia). to help developed your technique.
look into the past to see the future, so to speak.

Sorry my friend but Rodrigo y Gabriela does not play any Flamenco and they specifically state that. They play a mix of Metal, Jazz and abit of spanish flavour stuff. Im not much into finger picking and lead yet but im looking to go that route soon. Well mix lead with crazy rhythm might be fun.
yeah i know that is why i put in "Modern" and "with other" they never completely denied the influence though as far i know. they have Paco de lucia as an influence(don't we all). and i always respect the artist wishes and i do, but in my defense it seems to be a more "captain Beefheart" thing(to me) where they deny/play down there influence to stop labels from holding them back and to give a more freedom of expression. The captain to this day(if he still played music) would tell you he ain't never heard a blues song and if anything they stole it from him. That being said they are in no way just flamenco.
but look at the above song for instances. it is based off of a "Andalusian cadence"(i-VII-VI-V, subbing the VII for a iv) with E harmonic minor as the key and scale. the flamenco is hard to completely put aside. My only opinion was "maybe" look into traditional(not to compare as opposite of my use of "modern" paco de lucia is modern his early stuff[in his 20s] was traditional) flamenco to help you with your technique not to replace any thing. Hence "look into the past to see the future, so to speak." you asked for advice i responded do with it what you will
however i agree calling them flamenco will give them a harmful label but i did it in the sake of education

Yes thx I appreciate the feedback very much! I must agree they have flamenco influence in their music.
Im trying to get into theory but i never had a guitar or music lesson in my life so i dont know what the above mean? :-/ in the quote?
i-VII-VI-V, ? ? ?
Wow, I can't believe it but I think I'm starting to help someone with theory, LOL!
If I get some stuff wrong, you guys better correct me, alright? I don't want to "teach" Reinhardt wrong.
If you're in the C major scale, the i, VII, VI and V are gonna be the notes/chords C, B, A and G.
