Iron Maiden, 80's Metallica, Megadeath, Dethklok(really only the show), Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, Van Halen(if you consider them 'teeth' metal), and a smaller band from the 80's ,from where i used to live in Phoenix called Flotsam and Jetsam.
I really like the classic metal like Priest, Maiden and Metallica but right now I'm really into Symphony X. The New Mythology Suite is one of the best metal albums I've ever heard. It's one of those albums that you make time to listen to from beggining to end in one sitting!

Flotsam and Jetsam had Newsted? wow, now I feel guilty! My dad was in High School when he heard them and told me that they were not the biggest name in the industry. Great stuff though, especially "Dig me up to Bury Me".

Yeah. That's actually why he got booted from Metallica. Spending too much time with his side projects. And I agree with James and Lars on that one, Metallica is BIG. It is your only focus is basically their point.
Metallica, Children of bodom and pantera are like the absolute favourites, but i like Megadeth, black label society, Slayer, anthrax and iron maiden aswell:)
recently ive been listen to more metalcore and deathcore type stuff like:
All Thats Remains
All Shall Perish
As Blood Runs Black
Trivium( apparently theyre thrash, but not to be)
The Bleeding Cult
Agony Scene
Still remains
ect.
ive also been listen to metal instrumental artists like:
rusty cooley
francesco fareri
joe stump
yngwie malmsteen
jeff loomis( not his stuff with nevermore though)
andy james( a really talented player, i recommened you look him up)
michael romeo
michael angelo batio
jason becker
ect.

It's a sub-genre of metal; a fusion of metal with hip hop and other influences. Lots of bands around the late 90s and early 00s were catagorised as nu-metal, although like most genres nowadays it is hard to define exactly what is nu-metal and what classes a band as being a nu-metal band. Since the early 00s, the popularity of nu-metal has declined, and metalcore and the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal (NWOAHM) has more or less taken its place.

Nu Metal - Limp Bizkit, KoRn, Slipknot.
NEW Metal - LoG, Shadows Fall, BLS. Just anything new. Or an older act making new music. Therefore a "New Metal" album. Not the act though. Like Ozzy, Megadeth, Maiden, Metallica, etc.
some of the few good metal bands that started this century are 3 Inches of Blood, Protest the Hero, and Wintersun. theres some more, but these 3 are the best imo

@ Mac - I call it the cookie monster tone. They call it gutterall. idk. It sucks, but if the guitars are good I listen anyways. ex. - Lamb of God, Shadows Fall.
It sounds like it! Seriously, why have a band where all the members are excellent musicians lead by a singer that doesnt sing??!! It doesnt take much talent to grunt. I applaude Caninus for what they do because you might as well have a dog!
some bands do have awful singers, but some death metal singers, or "grunters" i call it growling or screaming, are very tolerable, Alexi Laiho, Petri Lindroos, Corey Taylor are a few. but some just are bad. and it is quite difficult to do without sounding like a frog
