I'm a metal head, but I like all kinds of stuff. Like Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, jazz, flamenco, and I love classical music--favorite composer is Beethoven. |

Fusion. And when I say fusion I mean jazz fusion like Mahavishnu Orchestra, Al DiMeola, Return To Forever, Jean Luc Ponty. And progressive rock like Yes, Genesis, Happy the Man, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and newer prog metal like Symphony X, Dream Theater and so on. |

I'm probably forgetting 50 or so more genres. But these are the top I guess. |

really???
@OP
as long as it's from the heart and it is real who cares what kind, style, or genre it is. Most of the reasons why I don't like all of the Pop acts is that, I find it not to be real.
That and Beethoven sucks, go Bach and modern classical woooooo *runs away chanting* :) |

no it's by Clarence White (I'm 90% can't find the album) and his first band Kentucky Colonels, he latter went on to the Byrds.
but it's country if you look around you'll get more country scores (that song is more bulegrass I'll admit [which is just a sub group of country any way]). But to me country isn't what is called Country today. I refuse to say that Garth Brooks or that achy brakey heart *** is anything but crappy Pop music with crappy country twang add on (if that is what you mean).
as for Beethoven that was mostly said in jest, as who am I you know. But I really don't like him nor most(90%) of Romantic music. To me I can't understand how someone could put this (down below) under Beethoven.

I'll add Ornstein too as he is one of my favorite composers for the piano. [not that I have the skill to play it :( ]

You can consider Neil Young very early grunge, since almost every grunge bands are influenced by Neil Young. Ofcourse, there are much discussion is he or is he not, for some people, Neil Young is "godfather of grunge", but some do no underline it.
Anyway, as we know that "Genres" or names of types of music can be very wide consepts, so absolute truth is hard to find, but for me atleast and many others, Neil Young is very proto-grunge type stuff.
