This seems to spark an interesting conversation at my school: Do you think The Jonas Brothers are any good?

the real question is should they be considered mucisians.

well I wont straight out diss them because they are good at whatever they are(I like emb don't consider them musicians nor do i see many mainstream pop acts of yesterday or today as) And i don't think any of them can really play. I back that statement by how that always have 40 year old behind them in shadow. I think all the can really do is play "cowboy chords" and Like has been stated many times before me "anyone can play, you can teach a monkey to strum chords" but it takes a musician to understand whats going on.

disclaimer.... I know many bands/artists use back up musicians but as i sated before not all do i consider musicians/ some like Leonard Cohen are more poets/"something else" so who cares about the playing it is not the up most important and some like Pink Floyd for instance can't play it other wise, but (mostly any way like that chick singing on Great Gig) write it all out and can play it just they only have two hands so they need help live

Well I think they are (like most mainstream "music")entertainers simply to put on a show I mean you can't tell me slipknot is any better.

The only thing the jonas brothers are good at is making money. its a vicious balance. its either talent or money. rarely is it both.

iron maiden= tallent
micheal jackson= money
black label society= tallent
fall out boy= money

well everything is run by money and its up to the mindless people to be influenced by the record companies.

A. Maiden is a great band that made it largely with the fans support, however what do you think keeps them alive, publicity of course.

They, the record companies, truly have the power to make people listen to what they want.

Same with the rest you mentioned, do you think BLS would have been as popular if Wylde were not in Ozzy's band.

There is so much talent underground it's just up to some rich guy to make them famous.

Yeah, I figured. I listened to one of their songs,that was my mistake, and thought it was awful couldn't even finish it. I was beginning to think it was just me since almost every girl I talked to loved them until I decided to ask real guitar players ^^

i don't think calling them no talent money makers is fair. because more then likely they like what there doing in life and would do it any way even if there wasn't a lot of money. "Just Entertainers" is more of what they are and apparently there good at that, but then again if you look what League said that is very true too. I just don't like the money thing because if some one want up to you and gave you a million for some hobby you had you'd say yes don't tell me your wont, but are they musicians no. now some one like Brittney spears is just a money maker she has proven time and time again she will do anything for money.

Personally I would say it doesn't matter what we bedroom guitarists think, because they are actually out there making the big bucks while we're at home twanging our guitars - sulking, no less.

We don't have any right to judge something just because it doesn't appeal to us, other people obviously love them (4-12year olds) But then, they have every right to do so, it keeps them happy and soon they'll grow bored of them like everyone always does.

It's just the way music works, these guys won't make it past 2010, and they'll be replaced by another dorky band soon after.

You don't have to be famous to be getting some man. And they're not even rock, they're Disney pop thinking they know something about music.

Well the fact is that they are more famous with their few "cowboy chords" than most of us ( i emphasize "most" ^^, i wish you all the best with your future rockstar career tough, haha) are ever going to be. So whatever they do, music or entertainment or whatever you consider it as, they are doing a good job. Even if only 14 year old girls listen to them.

Sure you don't have to be famous, but it makes it a lot easier i guess haha. Even tough the Jonas Brothers wont be getting any because their entire fan base consists of minors.

You have your musicians and you have your entertainers. There IS a difference. My attitude is live and let live and if little girls want to buy JB albums fine! And if they want to listen to REAL music they can buy "Elliott B-The Man and his Music". (Available at fine stores everywhere)! Plenty of room for everyone. However I must admit that at one time I also had a list of entertainers I just couldn't stand and took every opportunity to let the world know about it. After a while you watch them come and go and just watch the parade of fools silently and smile!

I've heard a lot of bad music before, but before I heard the Jonas Brothers I had never heard "music" that made me want to vomit.
