No matter what Jazzy, he resurrected and old negative post; that's my main complaint. Even if we don't have a ton of posts...we don't really gain a lot from posts like "rap tis weaks" or "MAB has too many necks on his stupid guitar". I clearly deserve an A+ too, since you can clearly tell I have a fine understanding of this kind of thread, and you intentions to revive it to diss rap, don't you think gs?
The cool part of this revival that people like to post some rebuttals, like above, so I'm in favor of that. I'd never put any effort into trying to change gs2112's mind, I like someone espousing the neophyte point of view on every topic, it makes for good chuckles.

I have to disagree. I use to think like many of you. However, I recently started likeing trip hop... which got me into stuff like The Roots... listen to Radio Daze by the roots... or Trying To Find a Balance by Grieves... Im a huge jazz fan and both of these songs/artists use some form of jazz in their songs. Not to mention their lyrics are deep and are about real issues not just money, hoes, and drugs.

Ok now being more me id just like to let it be known....
I like freestyle, i really dont like rap that has those awful lyrics... you know.... but ive been listening to some freestyle with good lyrics and its cool, especially in the middle of a funk jam... so my opinions have changed. But i still hate rap like lil wayne and eminem where they dis their moms, sisters, themselves and basically have awful lyrics in general

Eminem is easily one of the best artists of the last 30 years. His lyrics have tamed down considerably as he has gotten older, but in all fairness, not everyone has a wonderful family situation; people write about what they know, what they feel, and sometimes that is negative.
I do agree that some of his lyrics are awful, but I think if you listened to any of his serious stuff, you could see he has an abundance of talent and can really write some amazing songs.
btimm: yea, people write their best stuff about strong emotional things: I cannot listen to Billie Holiday singing (not written by her) Strange Fruit (about lynchings of African American people) without feeling a great sadness in my chest.
Strange Fruit
Southern trees bear strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black body swinging in the Southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.
Pastoral scene of the gallant South,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolia sweet and fresh,
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh!
Here is fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for the tree to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop.
Hip Hop, Rap, or whatever you want to call it, has been called the blues of this generation. When it come from the heart and speaks to real situations and feelings it's great. But like any other genre it has been hijacked by the mainstream and over done.
I agree with Btim. I like the early stuff: Public Enemy, NWA, Snoop and the like.
I had a 81 Toyota Starlett with two 18" woofers powered by a 200 watt amp, four mid-range speakers and two tweeters powered by another 200 watt amp. All with cross-overs. It did'nt sound good unless it was up loud! My parents would hear me turn the corner down the street playing the Beastie Boys or whatever. My neigbors hated me! It was awesome. Now, when a guy like that pulls up next to me, I think.."turn that sh*t off!". HA! Yeah. Things change.

@tsb i can choose to comment on any post on here if i find it interesting,it does not matter how old it is,nor how negative it isi can also choose to leave any comment i want i want no matter how beneficial you think it is or not.
GS: I totally agree with you...we are all free thinkers here. I thought I made that clear; I'll try harder next time! Maybe if I make a bunch of spelling errors it'll be more readable.
Now I would never diss my own mama just to get recognition,
take a second to listen who you think this record is dissin',
but put yourself in my position, just try to envision witnessin'
your Mama poppin' prescription pills in the kitchen,**in'
that someone's always goin'through her purse and ***s missin',
going through public housing systems, victim of Munchausen's syndrome, my whole life I was made to believe I was sick when I wasn't
I agree with btimm. Many people have written songs about strange things, its just what they got inspired or affected by and how they deal with it by making a song/rap/whatever.
Listen to Rammstein. Some of their Lyrics are more than amazing. Its probably hard for you to understand as a non-native speaker of german but on the other hand they have really stupid lyrics.
But for the stupid rap about money, cars and how cool the rappers themselves are is also not my thing. Don't understand how anyone can listen to it.
well things really got cookin' when I was gone, it really fun to read over things and ask where do I stand on these.
@gshredder2112
I was vary confused for a moment there, thank you for clearing that up. :)
AS for this topic I think we should all come away from this knowing we all come different places, seeing things from a different prospective, and all think from a different side of the of the sphere we are all living in.
