No, When I got an idea, I keep it in mind, twiddling, jiggling... then I try it out in a sequencer... if it work, I save it.

Im not much a lyric writer, but I do sometimes, some of them I just save to random docs :P

Cheers,
Emp

I use spiral notebooks to write but I've not written a lot lately it's easy to scribble out ideas and then I rewrite and rewrite and rewrite. I also have a practice notebook with compositions ideas, and "final" songs in.

I have a few notebooks with all kinds of lyric ideas, riffs, solos, etc. No binders though-always found them to be too bulky.

I always figured, if it wasn't worth remembering, it wasn't worth keeping.

I store everything on flash drives (I'm a geek). Mostly intros, bridges, breakdowns and a few riffs that I haven't worked into songs yet.

@GS124

I would agree with you, but, I found an old notebook with a song intro I had written over a year ago, which has become an awesome riff now. Old ideas can spark new creations.

I write my ideas down on any free bit of paper I can find. My room is full of scrap paper with ideas written down.

I'm total geek, my day job I fix broken websites and do some linux admin stuff.

There are some things I go old school with, I personally find inspiration and focus away from the computer.

I have 3 main binders and soon 4.

My main practice binder is divided up in different sections and is about to burst. Practice Log, Scales & modes, chords, arpeggios, picking hand, theory, songs, and composition. the second binder are print outs of some pdf's from some guitar world DVD's, the third is just misc stuff.

I keep a couple of spiral notebooks with lyrics and song ideas. Then I have a few other books i work out of too.

I'd start out with just one binder it's easier to keep track of and such. As time goes on when it gets full, get a second one.
