Neil Peart, Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Keith Moon, are all legends. Some other phenomenal drummers not yet mentioned include Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, he is arguably the GOAT and so beyond underrated), Danny Carey (Tool), and Phil Collins.
Case, why would you say not Lars? He was a hero to many who grew up in the 80s and early 90s and is beyond competent.
Some drummers who are not among the best ever, but are favorites of mine for various reasons and have been extremely influential in my playing include Jimmy Chamberlin (Smashing Pumpkins), Vinnie Paul (Pantera), and Matt Cameron (Soundgarden). Matt Cameron had by far the strongest influece on my playing of anyone. He is creative and uses all available sounds in a kit. He's nothing short of amazing.
Damn it, when will I have enough money and finally convince my wife to allow me to buy an acoustic kit again?!? *sigh*

@Btimm
It was a joke man! haha his early drumming stuff was a bit too straightforward(though extremely competent) but the stuff he did on St. Anger was awesome(flame me now, I don't care! haha).
Elvin Jones: ridiculous with Coltrane
Tommy Ramone
Josh Freese: The Vandals
chick bisquits: played with Black Flag,Circle Jerks, Fear the Weirdos, Danzig DOA and later social distortion
John Bonham
I think sometimes a great drummer really completes a band. The straight foward stuff will get the job done but wont really add any flavor to a band. Same goes with bass I think.
i'm a big fan of brian chase of the yeah yeah yeahs. i like his style. the rhythm to "maps" is sick.
dude btimm, vinnie paul was drinking at my neighborhood bar a few weeks ago. i wasn't there, but my friend who is the bartender there put a thing on facebook... AFTER the fact...
hah first of all it's the same bartender friend who stole my fugazi CD from the other thread, and she didn't say anything about it until the following day when she said something to the effect of: "vinnie paul (drummer from pantera) was drinking at hammerstone's for mug night last night. where were you???"
i don't normally drink on a thursday night with the closest thing i've had to an ex-girlfrien in years if i have to work the next day, but had i known vinnie paul was there? i probably would have made an appearance.
the american pickers have been to that bar, too. i live in a historic district this kind of thing really isn't that out of the ordinary!
one of my favorite drummers (brian chase), one of my favorite guitarists (nick zinner), and probably my favorite lead vocalist (karen O) in one of my favorite live performances of all time...
seriously, when "maps" gets stuck in my head 99 times out of a hundred it's not the words, or the lead, but the rhythm...
oh yeah i love keith moon, too. he was a good guy.
