bending problem

okay so im getting a weird noise when i bend too high, it happens when i bend to high from about the 15th fret and on on the 2 highest strings. it sounds similar to when you bend a string and it slides off to the side of the fretboard. help?

is your finger hitting one of the other strings?

I have that problem with my Ibanez LP copy it's action is very low and I've got light strings on it...that combination really sucks for playing blues and doing a lot of bending

When you bend the strings, you make them tighter therefore lessening the initial vibration. [Bearing in mind that vibration = sound] This could cause your sound to kind of putter out if you bend your strings to high in pitch.

If what they said doesn't work, turn the gain down. It may be electronical. I had my dist. pedal maxed out and it sounded really whiny and tiiny on higher strings. I adjusted the treble on the amp, and the tone and gain knobs ON MY PEDAL and It's fine now.

it could be from hitting other strings. i dont think its because of too much gain, because ive never had that problem before. but ill try that

Maybe. If it FEELS like it's from the string, 9 times out of 10 it is.

anywaay if ur not bending other strings, maybe u need new frets. somtimes there are dead spots in frets. if u showed a vid of it id know for sure.

with out seeing it I wouldn't know 100% but it sounds like your fretting out it happens a lot to fender necks that are 7.5 radius, but if i remember right you have one of those guitars with barley any radius at all, but ether way I'm going to guess it's a fret problem maybe it's a dead spot like emb said or a fret popped out due to the effect of weather on the fretboard (what type of fret board do you have?). just look at the string when you bended up is it hitting a fret higher up if yes your fretting out then we will have to find out why

there is no set 'action' for all guitars...
i set mine like so :

(ac-gits)
my 53 Martin gets light strings and low action (shes old) while the Gibson gets "heavy-gage strings and higher action

(elec-gits)
the 63 Fender Mustang gets custom strings (low = 52 high = 11) and VERY high action
the Tele gets Med-gage and low action
The Godin gets really babied w/ Light-gage strings and low-low action
The Dan Electro Baritone gets the only strings i can find for it(lol)
and so on and so forth

'action' is determined by HOW you wish to play a certain guitar.
IE:
when i do acoustic solo-shows, i use "baby" (the olde Martin) until i come up one one of my more ..uh, ..er .. cant find the word(its early lol) lets just say i switch (most times) to the gibson when i'm really gonna 'bash one out'.
same is true of the electrics
I teach w/ the Tele or the Martin , so keep them 'comfy'
and so on.

side note ... i tell ALL my new students who ask me "what guitar should i get besides this(usually elec) to run to the pawn shop and find an old clunker (that stays IN TUNE, lol) with mile-high action and thick-thick strings.
why?
'cause if you can play an F-Barre on one you can play an F-Barre on anything, lol, same goes for modes and scales.

and i should add, with all due caution of sounding like a jerk
(i'm not, and hope i'm not coming off that way)
that learning to play on an electric guitar, especially with "good" 'action' will cripple your ability to play well on an acoustic guitar, or, an electric guitar that is set-high(action) with Heavy strings.

if ya can lift 435-Lbs you can lift 200-Lbs with ease .. dig?

what was happening to the Charvel on that video is exactly whats happening to me, maybe its because im hitting other strings, but i dont think so, i recently changed the strings and i dont think it was happening before i changed them, maybe my bridge got higher or lower so my action got changed?

well It's highly possible your bridge got higher or lower.

I guess there's a problem in neck radius, due to the long-term-tension and pressure.. why don't you take it to a pro or someone who can fix it.

i fixed it. just had to raise the bridge
