Depends on what guitar I'm using, if I'm usuing my Epiphone SG, I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky. If I'm using the Ibanez AF75, I'm using D'Addario super light, or regular light.
Just a note to anyone who finds their strings getting a little rough or dirty, use "Fast Fret". Slide it on you strings and it'll make it nice and smooth. |

Well it's been a while since I restrung my electric, so I'm not sure what strings are on there, but on my acoustic I use .13-guage D'Addario phosphor bronze strings.
I've heard that you can put flat-wound strings on ES-335's, so I might try that.
I tend to like thicker strings better. I used to play lights, but as soon as I started moving up I fell in love with thicker strings. To me the tone sounds much more full, and they seem to have slightly better sustain (more mass on the guitar). |

Depends on the guitar, I guess. However, I'm quite fond of Ernie Ball Custom Guages. |

I don't like new strings sound |

my last set of fenders only lasted a few weeks then they turned groddy real fast.
I used flat wounds once but they were too tight and i did not really like the tones.
I herd B.B. king talking about having a wound G string rather than the straigt steel like the B but I've not seen any sets that have that. |

I like GHS because they last a very long time and boomers have a sharp sound that I cant find on any other strings. I use 9-42. |

Good point on the gauge of strings. and also Empirism original questin was if effect the ability for the guitar to stay in tune.
If you drasticly change the gauge of the strings it can effect the abliity for a guitar to stay in tune. If i tweak my guitar and set it up for .008 strings and throw some 012 it will not play or stay in tune well I would need to have it re setup up. if you move up or donw 2 gages you should be fine.
I personalty like .010 and .011 but usualy settle for .009. the heaver the gauge of string the more flexable it is as far as tone. I can play a clean channel and play soft and have a nice clean tone then pound it and get some drive out of the string with out hitting the over drive channel.
Every guitar player should know how to setup their own guitar so you can experiment some and finding the string gauge that fits you.
there are several soruces on the internet and books also that can help. |

I use GHS Boomers, 9 gauge.
I don't really like how thin they are though. I'm gonna move up to 10s soon.
And thank you to whoever said Fast Fret! That stuff is really good, and it makes it a lot easier to play. |

I use DR extra life colored strings. Not cause they look cool and they do but because they are the best coated strings I've ever used. I use 10s and 11s. I used to use GHS 8s and 9s but they go out of tune fast especially on a tremolo guitar and I play tighter on 10s or 11s. |

i use ernie ball regular which is 10-46 but i could go higher in guage. ive also thought about using a package of 7 strings and putting them on a 6 string guitar and leaving off the high e string. as far as the best strings i have played, DR is the best but they are a little more pricey |
