Writing a lot of my own material too Gshred \m/
I've been learning a lot of easy songs-
W.A.S.P-Wild Child
Anthrax-Got the Time
Dio-Holy Diver
Accept-Balls To The Wall
AC/DC-Shot Down in Flames
They're actually more fun to play than some Megadeth tunes. |

Me too, but I sort of had to learn those song, since playing covers with a band beats the hell out of bedroom jamming haha
I just have to get the original band thing figured out now XD |

Last song I learned was "Sunshower" by Chris Cornell. Pretty good tune. Haven't had a chance to play in like 1.5 weeks unfortunately. |

Yes it is. But how do you gain that creativity? Some of the best guitar players do covers of songs they learned when their mind was most vulnerable.
I'm learning an arrangement of "Someone Like You" by Adele, and "Your Song" by Elton John/Ellie Goulding. |

Learning covers of songs you like will often lead to a new idea that stems from something other than your own signature riffs, and you learn a song you always wanted to learn. Win win |

I'm learning "Mess Around" by Myself
The song is improvised. It begins with the picking up of a guitar and ends with it being put down. Anything in-between is unpredictable. |

It's my new currency mark.
Personally I like to write more than learn covers, since I have more fun putting together lyrics with riffs or trying to come up with the riffs, however, learning covers is a good way to bring in a different perspective to your songwriting, sort of like having someone else's view added to your repertoire(best word I could come up with)when it comes to writing. It's nice to have a different perspective on riffing, since I feel that some signature sounds can get stale after a while. |

I learned Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds for my daughter Lucy. She loves it! I have a video of her singing it while I play that I'll have to post. |

Even if you don't learn the full song, how can you hear a great lick or riff and NOT try to learn it??? |

I'm learning how to play again lol. I've been just hanging out and partying too much, and between that, school, and work, I've only been picking up my guitar about once or twice a week. I'm trying to play every night again though, I miss it. So yeah, just getting the feeling back. That old saying "If you don't use it, you'll lose it.", that's completely true. I've had to basically re-teach myself technique the last week or so and its still taking time to come back around. Kinda sucks, but its also fun feeling like I'm learning again. (: |

Learning the song "Lifer" by Down. It's pretty awesome. I spent so much time working on studying some jazz guitar (although I had a long layoff due to time constraints) that I feel the need to learn some other music and work on some stuff. I know it's pathetic to have been on this forum for so long, but my palm muting blows. lol It's coming along though. Maybe I will post a cover of the song when I learn it completely. |
