I guess normal isn't cool anymore. When someone doesn't at least try to use proper grammar or punctuation, I simply don't read what they write. It’s annoying and difficult to read. Also, what we write and how we write makes a statement about ourselves. If you write like you don’t care, then I guess you don’t care about yourself. I also think it's a way for people who can't write properly to use as an excuse. "I'm busy" or "I'm unique". It’s not what other people think of you that’s important but how you think of yourself. I also think using bad grammar, spelling, punctuation, and using funky fonts doesn’t make you look cool. It makes you look ignorant. Again, I’m not saying that’s what you are. You are saying it by how you present yourself by what and how you write.

Sorry for the rant! If you are offended, Go fcuk yuorslef. HA!

*EdIt* I'm sorry if I overlooked the point of your message KANGA. You must have been trying to positively reenforce my self confidence by telling me that I don't need to type like a wierdo to be flashy. Ironically however, u seem to be coupling this message with an alternate. It could be my imagination running away with me but it seems you are conducting a direct assault on someone's personal taste.

Also, on the topic of ignorance, I read your use of the words "normal" and "cool". In context with your (I'm so sorry to quote you again) "statement", these words are used in a way intended to be alienating to people who hold beliefs or even appearances other than yours. Tisk tisk.

Finally, on the topic of grammar. There's a spell checker in this text field numbnuts. I'll bet you had quite a bit of right-clicking to do before finalizing your previous post.

Wow,You guys.We get very few new members as it is,why do
you wanna go and flame the guy for distasteful typing?
He's new,he does know how we feel about that stuff yet.
I mean yeah its common knowledge to use
proper grammar and such, but its also free will to type
how one wants. So calm down, because no matter how
many times you tell him or already told,it wont chamge
anything,he"ll still do it,so why make problems?

Joedelbucohemond, you seem fairly intelligent, and I really mean that, so I will not try to insult or otherwise judge you by the way you type. What will do is ask that you try to limit your use of the caps lock. It is very irritating and makes your posts difficult to read for some of us.

Your contributions so far have not been negative at all, with the exception of your partaking in the little tit for tat exercise.

So please, do not take this as any form of argument, as I will try not to say more on the issue. Thank you for joining our site, and I really hope that you stick around, as there is a lot to be learned here.

I don't think I need to repeat myself.

Rock on!

@joel ur funny dude.....and i dont have an issue reading his posts

as crazy as this may sound....well at least maybe to some of you...
herman li is underrated

now before anyone says anything, by "under rated" i mean in terms of his skill level on guitar not fame...he is really good technical wise imo, but all people seem to see are his "gimmicks"...the the pac man and nintendo sounds, divebombs, etc.

u gotta give him credit....he played with joe satriani and paul gilbert :)

I give herman li a lot of credit. he has great technical skill. But I dont like herman li. This is because all of dragonforces songs sound exactly the same. I think that in order to get some respect in music you need to change it up some times and at least try to think outside the box.

@btimm I agree,PHIP!!!!Get back here!!"And i second that nomination.

@alexb that kind of stuff was dio's thing.Noone
else should copy it.

@tgg I like dragonforce,but they do seem a bit
repetitive at times, but that 1 song is pretty
good, and all the musicians in that band have great technical, especially, the keyboardist.

To me, I think J Mascis doesn't get the credit he deserves for being one of the better guitarists of the 90s.

he's good but i'm not quite sure if he's "under"-rated. fender has a freaking j mascis stratocaster if i'm not mistaken. granted he's not recognized by the greatest common denominator, but if he has his own artist guitar... he can't be that underrated...

but then again...

avril legvenven and the idiot bassist from sum 41 also have their own artist series guitars (/basses)... so maybe i'm wrong!

tony campanella! local guitarist. he's the sheez. i actually just saw him play tonight...

i actually saw him play at that very bar. 1860s in soulard, st. louis (1860 south 9th st. 63104 --- any of you guys over 21 and in st louis should check it out!)

I think that California must have some pretty good radio stations, because we hear lots of good stuff on the radio. If you mean on top 40 pop radio, then no, there are almost no good songs on that.
below is a list of what just played on the air on my local station.

11:08am Sloan - "Follow The Leader" - The Double Cross (Yep Roc)
11:05am Africa Hitech - "Light The Way" - 93 Million Miles (Warp)
11:03am Atari Teenage Riot - "Re-Arrange Your Synapses" - Is This Hyperreal? (Dim Mak)
11:00am Foreign Cinema - "Palace Of Fine Junk" - Palace Of Fine Junk
10:55am Mic Break - "n/a" - n/a (n/a)
10:51am Shabazz Palaces - "A Treatese Dedicated To The Avian Airess From North East Nubia" - Black Up (Sub Pop)
10:48am Todd Snider - "Fortunate Son" - Peace Queer (Aimless)
10:41am Battles - "Sundome" - Gloss Drop (Warp)
10:40am Mic Break - "n/a" - n/a (n/a)
10:35am DJ Lengua - "La Jungla" - Cruzando (Unicornio)
10:29am City Center - "Soft Marauder" - Redeemer (K)
10:22am Ladybug Transistor - "Clutching Stems" - Clutching Stems (Merge)

That's insanely difficult to say that just one guitarist is under rated - with how many people there are in the world it's crazy just how many people there are with such amazing talent who just aren't appreciated as much. The mainstream chokes the ignorant with destined financial loss.

All the choices everyone's chosen are great examples of that.

If I was to choose only one, I'd choose:

The one good thing I can say about all of these so called under rated guitarists is that you usually get to see them at smaller venues. I've seen Holdsworth, DiMeola, Frank Gambale, Steve Lukather, Scott Henderson, all my faves really, at small venues up close and personal.

Jazzy is right but it's our gain. Just think if these guys were as popular as Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. We would have to fight for ticketts to see them at huge stadiums with shi!y sound.
