Ibanez Fail

My Ibanez is falling apart.
The (locking) nut stripped.
The screws on end of the floyd broke (where the springs go)
The pickups (passive) have lost power.
Intonation is permenantly F*ed

and most importantly, whenever i divebomb, my low E (tuned to drop D) string goes sharp.
I even made it dive bomb only (a VERY strong pick and a screw), yet just the one string goes sharp with the lightest touch.
Is there a way to fix this last problem, or do i need to trash Ibanez?

Btw, its about 9 months old

1. Buy new locking nut set(not the base)-$15
2. I don't know what you are talking about there... pics would help.
3. Look into new pickups(DiMarzio and Seymour Duncan are solid)
4. Bring the guitar to a professional to see if it's not just the frets.

So right now you are looking at spending a bit of cash but honestly it might be worth it if you would like to keep the guitar. Consistent maintenance and checking on things is huge though!

For #2, I think he means the screws in the body cavity that attach the springs to the trem.

Personally, I'd trash Ibanez whether it's a good guitar or a POS, just because I don't like them, but it does sound like you either need to upgrade, or take it to someone to get it fixed, and that most likely won't be cheap.

1. does the dexterity of the nut matter? I see no difference on either side (except some roundness on low side), and "lefty" locking nuts on ebay come only with useless expencive junk
2. Where the springs hook to the floyd (not the claw) it has a locking cover so the springs dont pop out
3. im looking at some seymore duncans.

im guessing its a cheap rg? what do you expect, you get what you pay for, i have 2 ibanez's a xiphos and an RG prestige, im not sure the model atm, the xiphos is also falling aprt but its a cheap indonisian guitar, it still works though so idc, the prstige is still basically mint though, other then the paint witch is thin and rubbing off, i like that look though

I like to analyze things like this with questions: Do you reeeaaally like this guitar? If it were in good shape, with all the hardware and intonation fixed, would you like the way it looks, sounds and plays? Was it expensive or just a couple hundred bucks? If it's a cheap guitar but you really like it and want to keep it, it might pay off to have a luthier just fix everything. If the answer is no to all of these questions, you just may want to trash it and spend the money on something you want.

So i got through to guitar center (it is hard as * to get help from them. all i usually get is "what? ok. what? let me transfer you to ___)... I need a new nut and some adjustments to the bridge and it should be good as new (besides the pickups)

Its an RG5EX1L (RG5EX1 for Right handed version), It may not look like much, but its not one of the S* guitars.

When i get the money, im getting a Schecter Tempest or an ESP(LTD)... Until then this is the best i can afford.

I know what you mean,for the divebomb thing,get new springs,saddle the locking nut,or get a new locking nut

Take it to a real pro,not just guitar center guys,most of them are casual guitar fans too that dont know what they are doing

Invest on it a bit,and you'll get one hell of a guitar,ibanez are NOT bad,my first guitar is an ibanez,a cheap starter pack GIO,and i have never had any problem with it. i own lots of ibanez,and the bridge of your (and my RG) guitar sucks big time.

I got a new official Floyd Rose lock nut.

Fixed almost everything
Intonation,
Strings going #/b
Got rid of most of the fret buzz. (except open G)

my strings are going flat (mostly G and B string) quite quickly (especially the g string) could it be that i just need a new nut?

What kind of Bridge?
What kind of Nut?
Are your tuners Locking properly?
Are your strings fully stretched?

Its a string thru tune-o-matic style bridge
non locking nut, graphtech i think.

And yeah, they should be. maybe they are over stretched? I switch to open tunings quite alot and my intonation is pretty out of whack

change the strings...and if they are new,stretch them

while the subject is here: would buying a string stretcher be worth it?

I don't have much of a problem with new strings other than re-tuning every 5 minutes, but I'd like to know if they would actually help or if they might just be more of a novelty thing.

I just stretch my strings myself. Hold down the second fret, pull on the 8-9th, and keep going from there. It works pretty well. I definitely wouldn't waste the cash on something to do THAT for you dude.

is the string stretching effective? or whats the use of it?. everytime I change strings to my SG, I just tune it and it stay there almost immediately... just wondering...

I usually stretch my strings but tuning them up a half step(From where I want them to be tuned to) and let the sit for about a day. But I was wondering if these string stretchers would actually take the need for my day long wait, away(I hate having to stop playing to tune of all things).
Just a curious question since I see them all the time and have never really given any thought into them until recently haha

i just usually pull on the strings abit, retune, do lots of big bends, retune, etc. then after a few minutes they stay in tune.

Yeah, I do the same thing. And since BBT is doing this on a strat style Schecter, and me doing it on a Les Paul, it'll probably work for anything dude.

I pull on the strings/slide my finger between the string and fretboard a couple times.
Or just some whammy pulls. But im set at DB only for now, so...

For my acoustic, i dont need to. It pretty much locks itself in right away.

For my old les paul, i would slightly overtune and it would eventually pull into tune (i had alot of time then)

I know that! haha I wasn't curious about that, I was asking about the string stretcher lol I was wondering if anyone had ever used one since I'm just curious to see if they actually work haha

um i have an ibanez xiphos and i had the same problem....one quick solution is to raiss the bridge ever so slightly for the g b high strings and tighten trem springs XD gl
