I tend to do both almost all the time(if that makes any sense). I typically improv a solo until I start to "write" it and find parts that I like to come back to during the solo, but I have never actually sat down to write any solo note for note. |

usually i write them out for a real song im doing, and other times i like to **** around and play at warp speed for fun. |

I improv at first then if I like something I'll write it down. It usually comes down to half and half. |

Voted Improv, but I sometimes plan them too... though its usually result of improvising.
