My Compositions

So, I was wondering if any of you would be interested in checking out some of my music?

NOTE: This will not be the usual stuff you listen to.

My future career is to hopefully compose for games and perhaps films.

The first song isn't a song, it's just dialog. But it was interesting, so I felt like sharing.

It's mainly the last three songs that I'd like you guys to listen to.

It is put together extremely well. You should make a concept album like "Red Headed Stranger" or "Dark Side of the Moon". I think you would be very successful at this. You have a good way of telling a story through music.

excellent work. a little more refinement, and there is no reason you should not be able to earn a good living making music for applications such as games and maybe later, films.

i would love to hear you do a string quartet.

do you use MIDI instruments to do some of that stuff?

Yeah, I mainly use MIDI VST Instruments when I don't have time or money to go into the studio and record it myself. It's surprising how much fun you can have with an instrument you don't specialise in.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about doing that. Shouldn't be too long before I make it and put it up on the site.

Haha! That's definitely not me saying that. It's from a movie, I just thought it was fairly interesting, so I put it on there.

Songs are nicely done, mixing was also good, but some tracks was little "thin" sounding and bit low volume. Mastering and equalization to make these sound a bit thicker and those are very good.

Fallen Hero was favorite. Athmosphere of song is so oppressive and strong.

btw, which movie that dialog is from? deep eh? :P

That stuff is good for Movies and games. Not my style but it has good Atmosphere like Empirism said.

Excellent. Very promising stuff. Great work. Keep it up. I agree with Baulelaire in that you can make this into a lucrative career.

Yeah, some of them I purpously made so there were only a few instruments playing, giving it that thin sound so you can really focus in on those instruments.

Fallen Hero is also my favourite, I probably spent the most time on that song. Turned out quite nicely too.

The dialoge is apparently from WXII. (Beats me) It somehow ended up on my computer, and I have no idea how. haha. Perhaps one of my drunken days on the computer.

Wow, some of that stuff is awesome! I really like the thick layered sound of "Rise and Fall" - it sounds a bit like some of Porcupine Tree's old mid-90s stuff! :)

Thanks! :D I upgraded my music software, so I was able to create a better sound and with that, better tunes.

Giving this a little bump I suppose... letting everyone know that I'm going to add three more songs. Including the string quartet, which Baudelaire requested.

sweet! is it a backing track for some other media, or is it just meant to be great in it's own right???

Actually i'm glad you bumped this up. I realized i had never commented originally to this post (remind me to punish myself for that). i just went back and listened to the original 5 tracks. I like the bells in "dream of dreams" they do give that illusion of a dream state. My favorite of the bunch is "destiny's eclipse". For me it has a bit of an Asian influence to it. very pleasant melody. Looking forward to the new work.

Me too. The ones I mostly liked are "Rise and Fall" and "Fallen Hero". "Dream of Dreams" sounds good but really weird, it's like a theme for an adventurous epic video game, and "Dream of Dreams" is like an apt name for it.
Why do you have to record in a studio when you can plug your instruments in your computer.

Thanks for that, Baudelaire. Yeah, the string quartet is just it's own random thing, was a bit dissapointed with the first one I made, so I made another, hopfully it'll be better.

One of the ones I've made is fairly short... I don't think I'm finished with it yet, but may as well show it to you guys.

Phip, yeah, I'm really interested in different cultured music. I've got a much better one which sounds amazing, but I can't really call it my own, because I had another friend of mine mess around with it, too. Might put it up here though, see what you guys think. Most epic composition I've ever made.

NM, I don't have the equipment at home to just plug my instruments in my computer, whch is fairly annoying. I do for the keyboard but not my guitar.

"Courteous devotion", that's and interesting name for that piece. It gave me the feeling that I was lost in some sort of foggy maze. Hmm maybe that's what devotion in like?

Listening to "world of wonders" now. Very sophisticated orchestration! Powerful imagery. Bright and airy and dark and strong. Wow. That must have been one hell of a project to put this together. You had to get this all down on sheets before you could begin I would imagine? Where do you start on orchestration? Are there rules? Did you work out the melody on keyboard first? Did you have this in your head before you began or did it evolve by experimentation?
Song just finished and I am in awe of the effort that must have gone into this piece. You are gifted. I could never imagine how to even get started on something this complicated! I think you will do very well in whatever field of music you choose. (Oh shut up Skold! lol) Sincerely impressed.
What was the term the guys used? "Maximum respect" to you Jazzy!

you don't need equipments, you can plug them where u plug ur mic in your pc, but u only need a jack and the quality of the sound will not change(haven't tried it though)

You can use a PC speaker cord (double ended 1/8" jack, standard size for headphones) to run from the PC's mic input, to the headphone input of your amp (or in my case, a workstation).

Just need to get the 1/4" jack adapter.

Yeah, I have no idea why I thought of "Courteous Devotion". But you're actually dead right about the "Devotion" part. I seriously think that music can be a horrible maze at times.

With "World of Wonders" I started experimenting with notes and harmony, along with rhythm. Nah, I didn't need to write this out on notation first. I find it difficult at time to understand the rhythm and how to even write it down in notation form. I wrote it in on Cubase. I never use rules, just my ear and my mind. This composition also goes out of key a number of times, too. I love it.

Nah, I didn't work it out on the keyboard actually, I just hear the melodies in my head and I'm away. Though sometimes I like to just mess around with notes for a while and surprise myself with a melody.

Yeah, but I don't like doing it that way. I'd rather just buy the input box when I get the money. I mean no offence but that's a cheap and frustrating way to do it. The sound isn't perfect like I want it to be. I don't want my amp effects either, it's terrible.

I just went back to listen ot World of Wonders this morning and I noticed that the songs are listed as being on an album, "Destiny's Dream" and that the album was for sale on Amazon and Itunes. so i clicked on the amazon link to see what that was all about. nothing. os i clicked on the Itunes link but i don't have Itunes on my computer so nothing there either. I also noticed that under the headling "label" it says "signed". Can you explain what this is all aobut. are you signed? Are the tracks for sale or what? My curiosity is peaked.

I don't get why it tried selling my music... hmm. It is under that album though, which I'm not finished with. I'm not signed, but it's my way of letting thieves know my music is copyrighted. (Master plan)

What about the String Quartet? Have you heard that? Or is it even showing yet?

NO, i don't see the string quartet at either site. I was just curious about the whole online sales thing. I was going to buy the CD and have you autograph it!!!!!

Yeah, I saw your comment NM, thanks for that, I appreciate it. Fallen Hero was quite a fun one to make. That's a better comment on "Dream of Dreams" thank what my sister thinks... she says it's like Winnie the Pooh. haha.

Unfortunately I'm experiencing a "composer's block" which is fairly annoying, but most likely because I ended up listening to Psychedelic music today. Hopefully I'll get out of it soon.

I found out why they're not playing on the other site. Because if you don't pay for the PRO account, you're only allowed to actually preview four songs. A load of crap, but I'll just remove the ones you've heard so you can all hear the new ones.

I've just made some more, so stay tuned.

I love it! Jazz, what bands are your inspiration for this music? have you ever listened to Manheim Steamroller, Tangerine, Triumverat or andreas vollenweider? It's all New Age stuff but more progressive. At least the older stuff from all of these artists. I'm not saying your music is New Age but it's similar and you can get some ideas.

I haven't heard of any of them, though I'm interested, thanks for letting me know of them. I love hearing new artists and unique ideas. Of course, everything's already been made before, though there are slight changes.

I'm glad you like it, I'll have the other songs up shortly for you to listen to.

Basically everyone on my profile is my main inspiration. Nobuo Uematsu and Yoko Kano are the top inspirations.

Everything you do is played with such feeling! I love them all, especially the new piece "Eternity". Each song is an example of perfect timing and hard work! You have an amazing "touch" on those keys. Inspirational! More, More!

Wich DAW you use? are these Synths MIDI Programmed on the DAW Or these are played all live,with no MIDI Information?
