That'd be cool, but I don't think you'd want me in your band. I'm not very good. :D

Sound cool except don't most all of us play guitar? How many guitars does one band need?

well, lynyrd skynyrd has 3 or so, and the eagles have about everyone in the next 2 zip codes...lol so the only thing would be to get a drum machine, and one of us would sing, and we could ave battle of the guitarists.

This does sound like fun! A suggestion, some of the people who don't have recording equipment or who don't think they play well enough could volunteer as "official" judges. (sorry, no pay). Also see what you think of this....as a group (forum) we write some lyrics (verse, chorus etc) and each band does the best they can writing and playing a song for those lyrics. yes, no?

i can just record myself on my very expensive vid camera, (which isnt really mine, its a friends, but w/e) so ye. but id have to see what i could play or w/e, if not id make a good judge. or maybe we could have like different skill levels? like a band of like 6 months under, year or so under, 2 years under, and then like playing for long time in last category, or it prob be better to classify, like beginner intermediate, advanced expert thing. sounds cool, wow...i was acctually joking at first, but this could be cool. also there could be song sections, like one group plays covers of songs, and another makes songs.

I've got a mic (XLR to 1/4" jack), chords, guitar, bass, drum program, and audio recording program (audacity). What else would we need?

i;ve also got easy media creator (paid version) that comes with a audio editor. looks like it records multi tracks too. i haven't used it yet for two reasons. 1 no mike yet. 2 don't feel like i'm ready to record myself but i may be getting close.

Yeah. I have a double ended headphone jack chord running from the Workstation's Headphone input, to the PC's mic input. Records fine, no delay, etc. But yeah, everything runs through the Workstation.

LP did you download the install program to your comp or did you install the program from the internet. once the program is installed it will show up in "all programs" as "audacity".

the install program for windows should be audacity-win-1.2.6.exe
if you can't find it use the windows search funtion to find it (then double click it). just copy and paste what i wrote above to search for the file.

@phip: not sure what I did. It's not showing up on the "all programs" list. I found it in program files on my computer but I still can't open it.

When I do a search on audacity-win-1.2.6.exe it just pulls up a blank page??? I really suck on a computer.

ok, try the add/remove programs in control panel to get rid of what you've got then go back and be sure to download the windows version to a temp folder and run the install program from there. in other words when the prompt comes up on the download page do NOT select "run" instead you should select "save" and save it in a temp folder. then you can control the installation.

this reminds me of "the postal service". band created by ben gibbard (death cab for cutie) and... that dude from dntel. they mailed their music back and forth to each other collaborating on it without ever working together in person. the name of the band came from the method used to create it...

and yes this is old. i'm assuming that if this band went anywhere it wasn't very far...
