Whatever cab the headline band brings. I haven't yet got my 2x12 Framus cab, but soon I will. I'm also going to grab an EQ pedal and a reverb pedal possibly to give me a better control over my sound.
As for bedroom practice, I use my Roland Cube 30. To me, it's one of the more full and organic sounding solid state amps around. I'm not sure what the deal is with the x versions (30x 60x) but they sound really fuzzy.

Mine seems even simpler -.- Then again I'm just a filler for when ever a band is missing a rhythm guitarist and around here its mostly punk or heavy metal bands which play similar stuff. |

Live at Church: Either Epiphone thru the floor pod to direct box then into the Pa system

Mine's okay. It's good for a garage band deal, which is what I'm doing, but I want to upgrade and change most of it. I'm thinking of trading my pedals and my pedal board for something a lot more compact and digital.

Tube amps are generally considered to have a fuller, richer and more disirable sound than solid state amps (which is what you probably mean by normal).
However, it is preferance at the end of the day, so if you like solid state then that's fine - and it is agreed there are some decent solid state amps. |

so im guessing tube amps cost more (generally) and have better distortion also?
o and btw how do u know if u got a tube amp, lets say u won it or a friend gave it to u or somthing and u dont know and they dont know, is ther a way to tell?

a good way to tell if it's tubed is if takes 10-15 seconds
before you can hear any sound after turning it on.
(thats means the tubes are warming up)
if the amp has an open back you'll be able to see the glass tubes.

Ibanez GRX40 -> Ibanez IBZ10G amp.
Basically, the lowest end of Ibanez equipment. I'm hoping to upgrade to a nicer amp, then get a nicer guitar, probably a Fender Telecaster. But what I have now fits my needs, which is just messing around and trying to learn out of my guitar book. The distortion on the amp is pretty shoddy, but it plays well without it. I can get a twangy sort of tone, and sometimes the distortion works well enough to play metal. |

Yeah, I was thinking about getting the basic one and fixing it up with some new hardware. I've been doing some research and I've even made concept sketches of the hopefully finished product. Midnight wine finish with pearl pickguard and some humbuckers! :)
But the new amp is coming first, since even good Tele will sound crappy through my 15 watt practice amp. |

Right now my setup is an Epi Les Paul with a Marshall MG50DFX, but I'm looking at a new pedal. A Dunlop cry baby SW-95 Slash wah. You can see it at the link bellow there is also a video there so you can hear it. Any advice?

I tried out a Line 6 Spider 111 75 watt amp at the store last year and it seemed alright to me. In fact I was going to buy one but I opted for a Peavey Valve King 112 instead. Tubes just sound better to me. But, I do have a Line 6 Floor Pod Plus for all my effects, but I mostly just use chorus, delay and reverb, along with a couple of the amp modeling settings. I think I would have been better off going with a pedal board and Boss pedals, but it does sound better then the Danelectro pedals I use to have. |

Doz is telling the truth. They really have one hell of a bad rep, but I own one personally. So I'll tell you right from first hand experience.
1. The stock price isn't worth it, Go used or go haggled.
2. The Distortion sounds like Satan chocking on a bullfrog."but can be good if used at low gain levels."
3. They have a very weak low end sound. "I fixed this by making my open back combo into a closed back, Made it have more bass"
4. The tones you can get from it truly are amazing, but It still leaves much to be desired. Due to all the very small tweaking you have to do to get your tone dialed in.
5. The "Rockstar" presets are basically a gimic. I mean honestly who want's to just sound like someone else. Dial your own and raise some hell.
6. They sound nothing like tube amps, though you can get the marshell and mesa sounds from it. They are not as full as a tube version of these amps. "Sounds like Marshell MG, and a cheap Mesa"
7. It doesn't go well with pedals, due to it being a moddeling amp. You can get some very very unwanted sounds from trying to use pedals.
8. It is a great amp all in all, just not worth the price tag they have at stores. IMO the price I paid for my 75watt is what it really should cost. $160usd
9. The speaker is a great speaker though, and It can sure take a lot of abuse. I've had mine for about 2-3 years, and I bought it used. Still have yet to have a problem.

Um a little late but I use either my Jackson, Squier or Hamer thru a G-Dec which allows me to change the effect durastically for each song.
However I am in the market for a bass amp as I don't like to plug my bass through my amp more than I need to. |

Well, with what Doz and wickedbeast said I'm glad I didn't get one. I got a Peavey Valve King 112 instead and so far I'm happy with it. I've had it for a year now and it is used 3 to 4 hours just about every day and it works great. My Line 6 floor pod so far is working good, the effects are ok but I thing seperate pedals (boss) would have been better. One thing about the floor pod, you can't combine effects, like tremelo and chorus or chorus and flange like i used to do with my Danelectro's. So my next move will be a pedal board with probably all Boss pedals along with a Cry Baby Wawa and a volumn pedal. But for now I will use the floor pod cause the cash is a little short. |

Skold, it depends on which model. The MG series is like Marshalls cheaper amps, but you can get better for the price range. Marshall can keep the price like that because the Marshall name and logo attracts guitarists who might not know too much about amps.
Other than that, there are a lot of good Marshalls. I really love the JCM 900 I'm using, and I haven't heard much bad about any of the other JCM series. |
