How often do you practice ?

And how long do you practice per session ?

I practice about every day, on weekends usually 10 hours a day because I have the time.
On week days (school days) probably about 3 - 6 hours a day.

The way I look at it, you can NEVER EVER practice too much !

yeah thats true lil man but wait till you get to highschool....you'll wanna practise but you also wont wanna pass up on opportunitys to get laid or drunk etc lol. i usually practise anywhere from an hour to 2 every day but somedays i wont play at all; there reaally is no sort of routine for me.

I usually get an hour at least a day... but sometimes I practice like... all day for a good few days. Sometimes I don't play very much. It just changes all the time.

Yeah I'm the same, sometimes I go a day without playing, then the next day my fingers feel so fast

i spend at the minimum 30 min every day.

when i first started, i was like you guitarboy, i played at least 10, 11 hours a day...now i dont try and play everyday...i usually play everday anyway, i play when i feel like it, and dont when i dont feel like it.

I try to practice every day. I want to be able to progress and stuff quickly. I only play when I want to or if I have that urge, i don't force myself into practicing, that probably isn't good..

so i was pretty dedicated for a while but then put it down for a while when i went to collage and worked full time. I did not pick up a guitar for a couple of years. man, you get rusty. Now I'm back playing again and set aside 30 minutes a day a least to practice, warm ups and scales. more if i want, if i miss a day, the screw it I start fresh the next day

Aha, my dad knows ALL about that XD He just messes around with it, he knows music, but not guitar.
I find when you don't play for a while it feels kinda strange for some reason.

I personally have gotten into just sitting in my room for hours on end and playing while I'm waiting for people to message me back on Nexopia and such, but to really out a time that I play everyday, I just can't

LOL I usually post on the weekend because I'm really busy with school. I'm guessing the time difference from the locations we post allows me to miss posts on a thread I created.Guitarboy must have a lot of time because he has'nt been here that long and he already has more threads than afro raven(who used to reign supreme on this forum)

School sucks. I still have.. 6 years and four months about left of school, then college...
I do have lots of time cause I never ever do my homework (I don't have that much anyways) and nothing ever goes on around here so it's pretty boring.

Ha wow. I am a senior....i use to play like 5-6 hours a day when i was in the early years of highschool, but now i only get...lik 2 if im lucky! but im in a band too, so we practise like 4-5 hours on the weekends, and we spend 1 at gigs, so its not so bad. but i remember almost giving up guitar and selling it because there was way to much to do! (get high, party, drink, go the park with a few friends get drunk and smoke cigars at 2:00 am....oh good times...)

I have college, but I still have plenty of time to play due to not really having much of a social life. I only work one night a week aswell.

You're lucky Doz...Im working 40 hours this week plus my college shit. I havent really had the time to play anything in two weeks-just a few minutes here and there.

I say GS is lucky cause I WANT a job. having no money sucks.
But if you have a good job and work one night a week and get good pay then that is a bonus.

Lol, yeah, but GS - I don't have as much cash spare. I might try get a few more nights on some other club nights.

Any given minute I have free time I'm playing my guitar. I love it. I breath it. I try to do a little songwriting too, but I've found out quickly that that's something you can't force, so I jam hour after hour, if I'm not at work, school or church.

although im looking to get a job soon to make a bit of money.

i try to practice often as i can

About 6 hours a day minimum. And thats in a prep school on normal days... On weekend and on break I just sit on a spinny chair or place my self on the computer and play for like 14-15 hours, with a few stops for food and showers... (try to get food right after getting out of the shower so you can eat it well drying/getting dressed).

veqq... i just dont know how u do that, most ive played in a day is like 5 hours......

I have an addictive personality, and am easily hurt, thus I'm not too social, I have allot of people who would be my friends but I don't really enjoy hanging out with them, and this I just kinda play guitar... In reallity, it's like some super potent drug to me, except I don't have to pay other then the guitar it's self... :)

i practice constantly, when im not at a friends house or a friend is ovr, or im going to a concert or any of tht stuff, i go 2 car races som times, dinner, movies, the usuall, im practicing. i practice from about 3 when i get home and if im not interrupted, to about 9...so thts 6 hours, im on this site, i eat, shower, sis yells at me, mom yells at me, dog barks at me, id say 4 hours if im not doing anything else. i dont do hw so i can play more, i never do hw or projects, my motto "why do 2day when u can put it off till 2mmorow?" also i do it mostly in skool so ye. on weekends i can practice all day like 12 hours, but usually im doing stuff, 2day was one of those days, im sick, nothing 2 do, raining, i just play guitar.

EMB, you play a hell of a lot. I can't seem to play guitar today, I am sick too, coughing like crazy, sore and tired with a sore throat. Oh the joys... Watch TV or go on here unless my friend can come over

im not like painfully sick, just running nose, kinda tired, i could prob go biking if it wasnt for the rain, i could also go 2 sleep, but im too addicted to my new pick squeling to get off the guitar and fall alseep.

I did get a pretty frickin' cool solo piece done, so I have something to work on now

how can u eat tht much? lol i could just see u at the burger king takeout window, u saying, ill have 3 burger....uhhhh....(in a realy low voice to make it sound better)...5 oreo(b4 u can say 's) no! 2 cheese 1 reg...no! 2 reg 1 cheese! no!! 1 and 1 half reg 1 and 1 half cheese! the guy says anything else? u say yes! 5 oreos, the kind with black on the...no white on the outside!!!i want white!!! and 3 glasses of milk...no chocomilk!! no 1 and 1half coco and 1 and 1half milk!!! the guy says hestiantantly...anything else, hoping ull say no, u say wut else u got, the guy says nothing! and u move on. at the place wer u pick up the meal, the guy says we ran outta oreo's, u freak out! u get outta the car screaming ur head off like a monkey in a cage while the zoo guy is holding a bananananana outside it. u then go into the incredible hulk and knock down the building and they give u 5 oreos, u say ty and drive off lol.

dang tht was random, anyway getting on topic, i think i did practice too much, my mom got kinda pissed at me for practicing at 943 pm and yelled at me. only time u can praactice 2 much, when ur parents yell the bloody hell at u 2 stop.

Ahh, I've fallen out of my practice routine again. It keeps happening, but I suppose I've had a lot of college work to do anyway.

ye, skool gets in the way of tons of stuff. it gets very annoying. i hope ill always be able to have time to practice a solid 2 or 3 hours a day. but i have a feeling in highskool i wont.

atleast 6 hrs a day practicing different techniques,licks, solos
and atleast 2 hrs a day studying music theory

I used to practice 5-8 hrs a day when i was young(High School) because I had the time but now ,lucky I play once a week, been working alot

I still play for hours when I can, but with a wife and four kids it can be hard to find the time every day.

I wish I could practice as much as some of you but I usually only get an hour of guitar time a day. I have 3 hours of homework most days, so I don't get much free time during the week. :(
