New guitar time any recommendations?

Hey Guy, and Gals!!! I've been thinking of getting a new guitar I thought i've get some feed back from the forum before I head out to the stores.

My budge is under $1000 and besides long walks on the beach, imported beer and Italian food, i'd prefer my guitars not to have sharp edges that I can impale myslef on.

Oh and I'm thinking about an electric by the way

PRS or Schecter I would say, for any genre they have some very versatile models in their range.

What sort of stuff are you looking for?

Funny you should say PRS...

I've been playing on a Gretsch 6120 and it's really pretty great guitar but there are something those hollow boxes don't do well. So I'm thinking of going back to a solid body guitar. I was looking at some of the PRS SE's on-line and in reviews. They look pretty nice. I've never played a Schecter, I might have to give them a try too.

tele

I've owned a tele but wanted something a little meaty. Tele's are great and I loved mine but it got to sounding thin and weak.

Dude, definitely a Schecter C-1 custom FR, Theyre 899.99 and worth probably double that. They have coil splitters so you can get a kinda strat sound, they look great too.

of course....i would suggest an ibanez....any kind. RG's are the best to me

I stopped by GC yesterday and banged on some guitars.

I think I've fallen in love with the PRS Santana though it was so nice to play but I was not crazy about the body style.

I did also plan an Ibanez RG 3 something and Schecter C-1. Both were nice but not crazy about the locking tremolo. They all had the neck i'm looking for with the wide fat frets, and the Ibanez and schecter had the bodys. I'm going to keep shopping.

I've always wanted a real Gibson, so when I found one cheap, well I picked it up :)

That jack position is the best for playing sitting on the edge of your bed. I hate is when I hit the jack on my leg or the couch or whatever and there is a crazy loud cracklin' noise (on my Tele, which has the jack on the edge or the body, but is recessed, so I can't use a 90 degree angle jack).

Dude! That's a nice guitar. I've always wanted one of those too. They are great metal guitars but also great all around. Could I ask what you paid for it?

fender makes them if you feel like buying a special chord (obviously can be used for anything, but if you already have one...) or there is a new socket you can buy that levels it out. I don't know the cost, but it is a specialty item so I'd check tele forums I'm sure there is a forum or two about this company and that company that sells tele upgrades (there is a a lot of em)

I picked up for $350. It has been used there are surface scratches and at one point the head stock broke off. It's a faded model, so street price run about $800. I talked to the luthier who repaired it and he said if i ever had problems with the guitar he would fix it for free. It seems like a solid repair. With out the break I would have been willing to pay $450 or so.

I had an epiphone SG Pes Paul model with 3 pickups and that guitar was really neck heavy, this guitar is a little neck heavy not much more balanced that the ephiphone.

It's a solid guitar and sounds great. I can't believe the difference in the 490 pickup make compared to my other electrics.

I wouldn't be too worried about the headstock break. It's an easy fix, especially if it was a clean break. My old epiphone's head snapped off and I fixed it with some woodglue and a nail. Thing holds up pretty well. Only issue is staying in tune, but that's because it's a ****ty guitar.

I've played a Gibson SG once, and I love the tone you can get out of it. Have fun with it!

Ahhhhhhh the SG. I LOVE how fat the neck is....serious bends and sustain. But I've always wanted a real super old les paul

$350 is a great price for that guitar. And you're right, that pickup has killer sound. I did'nt know it was the faded model. There was one in GC that I used to pick up and play all the time and I loved the way it played and sounded. Good buy!

Rg 550 is pretty nice and there a rg420ex they are under a grand ,good tone, Schecter to me are metal guitars and I played a 7 string and this guy payed a grand for it and it had horrible action, and had a 22frt neck, not that there bad guitars you just have to find a well made one. Esp's are pretty nice and under a grand..but I didnt care alot for there necks....but just a idea for ya
