Hey y'all, just finished two new songs, as the title suggests; "Surrogate Missile" and "Higher Places". Check them out and let me know what you think.

Thanks for listening.

Cool, songs are guaranteed GS stuff man. I dun know if you are done mixing yet, but volume levels could need some work, especially surrogate missile around 1:35... it cut over quite badly, also that "vst noise" on distortion could have some EQ:ing :P...

Anyway... very heavy. Higher places is better of these two imo, it keeps your attention sharp through whole song. Great job m8.

Thanks for the listen man. "vst noise"... Yea... Man I can't tell you how long I've ***ed with the damn software and still can't get any tones and levels I truly like. Saddest part is, anything better doesn't fit my budget.

I was having some technical difficulties with "Surrogate Missile" and I am just glad I was able to finish it to be honest. I think I like "Higher Places" better too; though the former had more potential.

Again, appreciate the listen and the feedback.

Rock on!

I could only get to about 40 seconds through surrogate missile and 2 seconds of higher places, not because I didn't like them but because my internet's running like a one legged dog with a ball and chain.

That said I did like the riff and lead of surrogate missile and will listen when my internet bucks up it's ideas of what's acceptable behaviour =P.

You try using a distortion or overdrive pedal between your guitar and computer so you don't have to rely on vsts?

loved the leads of surrogate missile there were some points were I felt the tone could have been better but that's down to the vst and I know beggars can't be choosers. Have you tried applying eq before the distortion or compression to it?

Higher places is a more solid track however surrogate missile has something about it that I really like which makes me prefer it as a track.

Very nice dude! Don't know why more people haven't commented on this.

"Surrogate Missile" ...

It's really epic, I could picture this being played to a fighting scene, and at the calm part the baddie is talking about how he knew the good guy would fall for his trap and how he plans to destroy the city.... mwahaha then bang into a good fight scene again.

"Higher Places" ...

Brilliant tune, I really like this one. Good tone, nice distortion, delay sets a perfect mood. Overall... 10/10 :)

Yea, but the without a preamp, it just doesn't sound the same. And for right now, the vst is my acting preamp.

Thanks for the listen and the imput!

In a twisted way, what I was going for! Gracias.

I use cakewalk for recording and it has about five hundred pre recorded drum beats... I just mix and match the ones I like.

Thanks for the listen guys.

Rock on!

GS, Surrogate Missile is epic! I love how you've paced all these different tempos the way you have. It kept me intersted in the piece all the way through! Nice touch on the ending btw - I liked how it went all staticy to cut off the aggression and faded out into calmer bits to finish off.

As for Higher Places - also good stuff! That piece gave me visions of adventure. The tension of it is truly amazing.

Well done. Since neither of us seem to be posting so frequently I'll wish you luck with your music - I may not know a lot about music but I still think you should get far some day.

Excellent man!

The first one is epic, nice ideas and construction, youve got your stuff going on really good!

I loved your ideas on Higher, really! Enjoyed it a lot! Musically, nice songs and ideas!

On the other hand, the production is quite poor to be honest,i know youre no pro producer so its cool,i may suggest you to get a better guitar tone, dont oversaturate your drum parts, record 2 DRY rythm guitars and pan them hard left and hard right, then another 2 panned 70-70,use less distortion,a tighter tone will do the job,i might do a lesson in Digitar VST technology for guitar players, including vanguard ideas and technologies only a few know.

The thing is,you need to get better at mixing and producing,so your ideas get in a better and more shaped way to us

:)))))))))

Best critique yet. Thank you Alex. Glad you like the tunes man. I think that would be a great lesson... I'll have to admit, since I gave up my "real" studio, i.e. amps, mics, stomp boxes for the cheaper, easier to move vst crap, I have been kind of lost in the world of mixing and leveling.

Again really glad you liked the tunes. And I am looking forward to that lesson.

Rock on!
