Is there a reason why a 965 by 968 KB photo will upload in the "Show us your art" thread while a 596 by 600 KB photo will not upload in the "Pictures of yourself" thread? Both are JPEG.
Thank you. |

I am not sure it matters too much null. Just right click on the jpeg file, select open with and open it with paint. Then resize the picture to like 75% for both parts of the aspect ratio and the file will be smaller. :o) |

You can't have a 965x968KB image. KB is a measure of it's digital size, while 965x968 is a measure of its physical size. These are two different measurements.
The actual digital file size is what you are looking for. If you right-click on the file and select "Properties" (should be the last element in the list) you should be able to see the actual image file size. If you are running a windows 7/vista computer, it should be about half way down where it says "Size in KB"
The dimensions of the image are completely unnecessary. |

that photo that will not upload on the pictures of yourself thread uploaded fine in the photos of your art thread. And i did not change its size or change anything about it whatsoever. Is that explainable? |

Done.
But you gotta lay off the picture spamming, even if you didn't mean it.
If it doesn't work the first time, give it a while. Because if you see the image uploaded successfully, then you know it's worked, so just give it some time for your computer to accept the image.
Anyway, if you have anymore problems, can you send one of us Mods a PM instead please? :) |

What do you mean by spamming. YOu make it sound intentional. |

@null you said that jazzy was implying that your pic spamming was intentional, but in her previous post she clearly said that it wasnt.thats all. |

i meant to say that by using the phrase spamming it "sounds" intentional. Thats all. Unless there is accidental spamming. I dont know. And if the post is invisable to me. Then to me it does not exist. So actually i was not posting more that once. In my eyes. Actually after the post didnt show up id red x the web page and open the page up again and it still wasnt there. then is try again. the spider pic took over a week to show itself to me. This has NEVER happened on any website but this one. |

Sounds like a possible internet issue more than a site issue Null. Try clearing your cache and loading up the site again, though it may take longer to load because you have to download everything again but it gives a clear-slate, had this issue a while ago here and had to clear my cache to sort it, if that doesn't work chances are it's just a connection issue.
The 'spamming' issue volitile yes, but by 'spamming' I believe Jazzy mean't posting a large aroumd of photos at one time not individual posts, theres a general kudos not to upload a large amount of photos at once especially those of large file size as it will hinder those on a slow connection. Note: This is my interpritation, Jazzy may mean something completely different to this. If she did take this as slight advice on the term. |

what do you mean by 'why this site only?', if you mean cache issues or connection issues I'm not sure would have to be answered by the admin or someone with a technical understanding of what this site runs on and the server locations.
If you mean my explination of 'spamming' it's not just this site it's quite a common thing. |

No worries, sorry it didn't do you anygood, possibly a connection error. If you can see the other images on the site it'll be a problem with the image host and not the site (unless it's been hoasted on the site). |

So really, that matters to this site only because of the host/browser. There's a lot of database/server stuff going on in the background, but basically the jist of it is that the updates you made went to the central server while your computer had a local cache of the website.
Every time you wanted to view the site, you were looking at your local version of the website, which had not yet been updated from the main server. We can fix this problem in the future if you tell me what browser you are using.
At least, since I'm studying distributed systems right now, that seems like a logical explanation :) |
