Hello everyone,
Well it seems ive made a transition from playing in a Heavy Metal band to early Punk band.
Aside from the more popular bands like Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Dead Boys, The Saints, etc. what are some good lesser known bands?
any input on '77 Punk would help. |

Punk is just more than music, its attitude and way of thinking maybe even more than music atleast how it turned in Finland back in time. Somehow its reflects on my behaviour or something now when I got up too, it left a mark :),
In work or in business world forexample where I work, I just have no friggin respect to authorities, I break their rules if I look that some thing could be done more reasonable. I never went to any fancy clothing or any damn piercing stuff, thats not the thing I see in Punk.
Nice to see that younger dudes still looking for that and keep Punk attitude alive. |

That's something I enjoy about the older punk rockers, is they have the sort of same attitude as many Thrash Bands(for good reason). Normal dudes who don't care what you might think of them, their music, their clothes, or their attitudes :)
I've sort of adapted that attitude myself in the last couple years and I love seeing other guys/girls like that(unlike the Metal-core scene where everyone looks like a freakin' hipster). |

The Vandals..."airstream, Get Out of My Lane!"
Thank you for mentioning Flipper, Nullnaught. They are playing with Dead Kennedys in Oakland in February. |

@case,
Yeah, when I was in a punk band in the seventies, I had a fro, played a Telecaster, and wore a tee-shirt and jeans. The typical mainstream punker had a mohawk and wore leather with spikes or something. |

Excellent choices BTW to everyone who posted. Henry Rollins FTW always reminds me of what Rock n Roll is really about. |

Even my band plays more "hard rock" stuff, I play it with punk attitude, I perform with punk attitude... some of our songs are more punk rock than anyother thou so yes :).
I mean... when I am in the stage, I am far from Ritchie Blackmore style of play... Its time to release the steam out... sadly its quite often with cost of technique and correct playing... BUT... usually they dont even notice LOL.
