Excellent Choices mak

I must second any War albums.

And EMB, Funkadelic's sister bands Parliment and George Clinton are equally crazy. George Clinton still puts on the best show I've ever been to.
Funcadelic's song Maggot Brian Feat, Eddie Hazel on guitar has remained my favorite rock song ever since I heard it as a kid.

Check out the Brecker Bothers "Skunk Funk" on YouTube for some instrumental jazz fusion funk. These guys are tight.

i also thought i would post 2 guitar players that do slap and popping on the guitar, they are both amazing

first is christopher godin, hes french, i like him a lot i think hes quite underrated

the second is scott mishoe, i think hes dead though :( im not quite sure

i may as well add this one of chris broderick from megadeth, its not really funky though, its more jazzy

Nice GibsonLP60! That reminds me of two things, Watermelon Man by Herbie Hancock. And most importantly, Make it Funky by James Brown. Not really guitar songs but definetley funky!
