I recently just tried a couple of Carl Martin distortion pedals and literally almost cried because of how good they were. They only downside was that it was 300 dollars :(. I get a pretty decent income but come on, would you pay 300 dollars for a pedal?

Sometimes you just have to do it when it comes to the guitar. Almost 4 years ago, I had to have the Line 6 POD XT. It was $299. You know how much it is now? $299. It has'nt changed because it's such a great item. I use it everyday and it never ceases to amaze me. I feel that it was worth it.

Think about how much you love guitar and what it takes to acheive the sound you want. If this pedal does it for you and you can make it happen, do it. If it's the Plexitone, it's on sale at musiciansfriend.com for 234.50 and ships for free! There's also ones that are scratched or dented for $178!

It depends really, all of my equipment is way higher in price, but my needs are a lot different. It is really a choice for yourself to make in what you need it for and how much thats worth.

Once I budget out my check each month to all my bills, whatever is left I just spend on what makes me happy. That's what having money is all about, IMO.

I say buy that pedal, and never look back. What else would you normally spend that $300 on? Fast food? Gas? Clothes? I'd rather have a ripped up shirt, an empty stomach, an empty tank in my car, but a kickass distortion pedal any day.

Well said. Impulse buys are usually good ones. $300 is not out of this world for a pedal.

you really can't put a price tag on tone,though i personally wouldn't
spend $300 on just a pedal.

Also ask yourself if you have a tube amp, if the pedal is really good for you. Pedals take away from your tube amplifiers natural sound.

ok,i need to retract my last post about not personally wanting to
spend 300 on a pedal...lol

after reading this thread i went down to my buddies shop and plugged
in 4 different Damage Control tube preamp pedals and gave'em a whirl.
i've never heard one before and never even tried one because of the
hefty price tags they carry $199 & $299.

i can honestly say they are the most amazing pedals i've ever heard
and i now want one,go figure. i'm now looking to grab a Womanizer
or a Demonizer.

these will make a clean fender sound like a mesa

I've had every pedal under the sun. Electro Harmonix, Ibanez, Digitech, Zoom effects processor, and so on. I try not to try anything new until I'm ready to buy because once I try it and it's cool, I have to have it! For the last three years I just play a POD XT through my mac and that's it!

Hoobastank! I absolutely LOVE "What Happened To Us?" Probably one of my favourite songs by them, then "Inside of You".

Littlewing, why don't you try and look other places before you get it from there? If it's good quality, I'd say it's worth it.

Well, for me here in the UK I would pay $300 as for me it'd be somewhere around half price so it'd be more likely I would, only it'd still be a lot for pedals. Before you go that way, I'm not just rubbing it in! :P Promise! No I'm just going to suggest if you really want those exact same pedals you saw in the shop, be a UK imigrant, work, then go back home richer! Well, it's probebly not my most senseable idea...moving arrangmetns are no fun, but just if you really are that crazy about them...or just go for ebay, that makes more sense.
