I know it's epic. What's not epic is everyone looking at you like you're some sort of freak. Everyone thinks I don't understand their problems because they apparently think being a teenager is SOO complicated.

My name is Shawn and like my parents, teachers and wife have always told me, "YOU DON'T TAKE ANYTHING SERIOUSLY". And I don't.
I'm 44 and have played the guitar since I'm 12. I'm good but not as good as I should be for playing this long.
I was in a dual lead guitar heavy metal band called Sector Zero in the early 80's and played at parties and some L.A. clubs. We played almost all Iron Maiden and Judas Priest songs. We were nick-named Iron Priest.
I played the bass in a punk band for a short time.
I used to drink, smoke, do coke, meth, and all sorts of other drugs. I'm sober for 15 years now. Now I just eat and chew nicorette like it's going out of style. I'm about 30lbs overweight but not too bad.
I like doing absolutely nothing for long periods of time and I'm 100% ok with it.
My passions are comedians, guitar, music of all kinds and of course my family.
I've done a lot of stupid things in my life and still do but I forgive myself.
If it were'nt for My wife, daughter and the guitar. Life would suck out loud.
Wow. This is kinda theraputic! I'm going home now. My wife and daughter are away tonight and I'm gonna sit on the couch, eat a big burrito, watch a movie and play guitar!
See ya'll! |

Ok, more about everyone's favorite person: Me.
START.
I've become desencitized to seeing my family members naked on account of walking in on my sister changing when I was little.
I use to be into weird paraphilia's.
I experimented with another dude when I was in kindergarten.
I get called *** by my sisters a lot on account of the fact that I don't do anything manly, and I'm kind of feminine.
I cried during Titanic, The 6th Man, and other movies (The 6th Man always gets me).
I have no friends on account of me being too weird.
I stopped drinking right before I turned 16 (imagine the screw up I'll be when I'm 20).
I went to the viewing of one of my great Aunt's, and laughed when I went to view the body.
I work out all the time.
I find it hard to enjoy the things I've been working for anymore.
I had always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die. First of all, that one second isn't a second at all - it stretches on forever, like an ocean of time. For me, it was sitting outside on Christmas Eve, breathing in the smoke from my sister's cigarette as we talked.....And closing my eyes while the Winter's air carried me away.....The way Erica smiled as the wind drifted through her hair.....And Lukas...and Nik...And...Erica...I guess I could be really pissed off about what happened to me, but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst. And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain. And I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life.
END. |

you're weird. wanna make a band? :\
more about me, if someone cares:
Good Stuff
- left drinkin, drugs and my first and only girlfriend about 2 years ago, i guess (ok, precisely on 23rd July 2006 around 10.30pm)
- my thirst for knowledge :p
- i'm very open-minded. and i almost never criticise an opinion
- i'm stubborn in my way of seeing how things are and work, but i don't let people know that, i just shut up if they become too annoying in making me assimilate their own stubborn thoughts
- the habit of leaving my sentences cut in half, as if...
Bad Stuff
- started smoking at 10yo, drinkin at 12, doing drugs at 13
- had sex for the first time before i started smoking
- haven't had sex in two years (since i broke up with my girlfriend).. can't find someone that's worth it
- i NEVER work out
- my lack of vocabulary (in english)
- my fear of having people looking at me
- my fear of failure (sometimes)
- my excess of trust in my own abilities (other times)
- i can most of the times tell what's going to happen next (i have a fairly high logical skill) in a certain situation, and i advise people what they should or shouldn't do, and i become a little insistent when i'm really sure that something bad is gonna happen. the bad part is: when they don't listen to me and don't follow my advice i always spend the next weeks saying "why the hell didn't you do as i told? i told you! i knew you were gonna screw up!" xD
enough
i wrote too much already... -_- |

Well, my name is Brendan, but so many people have so many different nicknames that I respond to just about anything. My mother once called me the name of the family dog (5 years after he died).
Best way to describe me is a social chameleon. Basically, I知 a jack of all trades master of none, so people see their strengths as my weaknesses (ie Intellectuals consider me a jock, jocks think of me as artsy, etc.). I知 normally quite and reserved when I first meet someone, which sometimes is misconstrued as arrogant. However, if I知 at a table full on introverts, I come off as a type A personality.
People think I知 a scrapper b/c I grew up on the south side of Chicago in a neighborhood that many think is a bad area (not true) because I was one of three white kids there. Almost no fights, but I should be dead (a dozen times over); b/c, during my teen/college years, I lived with complete disregard of life or limb and did stupid, stupid things.
I had 12 years of Roman Catholic education, which means that since I spent my childhood lying to nuns, I can lie to anybody (though I rarely do). I graduated from university w/ bachelors in Accounting and a minor in History (Well aware that one has nothing to do with the other). I read War and Peace once I got out of college b/c I was thrilled to be able to read fiction.
Obviously, I don稚 see guitar as a career, rather, a release or an outlet. Guitar is not my first instrument; I learned a classical instrument that I知 still too embarrassed to mention. I think only people who know are my family and the 500 people I performed a solo in front of at age 11. Competitive streak made me do that, then I quit.
The pic in my profile was snapped from my rooftop balcony at my apartment.

Classical music is awesome. Nothing to be embarrassed about when you play any instrument of the sort. I would say triangle, but you can't really solo with that. |

I've heard a lot of Yngwie. I just think there are more talented guitarists out there that play much cooler music. Plus he's kind of an *** from what I've heard. |

I'd say he has a greatly skilled guitarist, but I don't respect him as musician.
I have never been touched by any of his work. |

i don't know if this counts as an argument for denying his playing abilities or not, but have you noticed that yngwie plays with the exact same techniques in the electric guitar and in the accoustic nylon-string guitar? i don't think that's completely correct.
i admire him and some of his work, but i think if someone thinks he already knows everything, then he's not a good musician |

If Yngwie wasn't a great guitar player, he wouldnt be on the thousands of lists of "great guitar players". He was the first to combine the sweep technique with lightning fast alternate picking and commercialize it. I'm not a big fan of his music but I definetely appreciate his guitar playing. |

I'm not saying he isn't admired, or one of the greats considered by the majority. He's just not my taste. I've tried getting into him, I just see no appeal. |

You didn't just say that, I know you didn't, I must have read that wrong. LOL
Greetings from Asbury Park doesn't do it for ya? Oh where have I failed in your musical upbringing? Yeah, I know he's not liked by many but to me he is an amazing writer.
oh well, back to my cave,

Actually, he wasn't. Frank Gambale was the first to create it. He created "Sweep picking" and later alternate picking.
Yngwie was only voted the greatest, because the young people voted, and the young people don't explore enough to understand true talent. You've also seen that Bands like Trivium and Fall Out Boy were voted "Best band of the year" or "best technique". They're only voted that because it's the kids that vote for it and it's only the ones who are interested in that one genre. They're oblivious to anything else around them. Yngwie is good, but he's not THAT good. |

Ok, stop going off topic, the lot of yer!
My name is Evan.
I thought my dog getting spayed was her getting a sex change (when I was little, of course).
I once ran like a little girl because I saw a roach on the floor.
I'm terrified of spiders (even the little ones).
I'm terribly sexy. |
