What genres and bands does everybody dislike? Personally, I like all sorts... but I usually find that on guitar forums people are like 'emo sucks', 'metal all the way'... and people are quite barbaric in the way they treat others taste.
Just to let you know, I'm going to talk about whatever bands/artists I want to.

hehe...thats very true...i like pretty much everything from metal to jazz...pretty the only music i dont like is rap/hip hop and the like, not such a fan of punk...
There are many diffrent genres I like at the moment I am in a punk phrase
I used to think Indie was rubbish I could be really quite narrow minded about music but now I have a quite broad taste.

I think this is one of the greatest topics anyone has brought up.I like any music as long as it hits that right spot in the soul.I try to respect all music, but some music is just ridicoulous and offensive.
I like Megadeth because their music is complex and has smart lyrics.I like most metal.Classical and Blues are the most important in my opinion.I don't enjoy Emo or most of the new "Rock" bands.I think cookie monster lyrics are an earsore.there are a few pop acts that impress me but those songs are written by real musicians. Most "music" today is just showmanship, dirty words, and women on cars with dollar bills flying around.Oh and I hate MTV which has nothing to do with music.
i hate watching music videos with "women on cars with dollar bills flying around"...ur really right league, most music today is just showmanship and dirty words...
I like every genre of music that I know of, and love most of them. For enjoyment I listen to mostly "Classic" rock, or other forms of rock where the guitar is very prominent (not all Drop D chuggachuggachugging). That being said, you'll have a tough time find a gangster rap song that I would enjoy listening to.
Mmm... I like some rap. I like all that chuggachugga stuff that everybody hates (and for future referance that bit of the song gets called the beatdown). I like 'emo' music that everybody hates but probably is mislabelling anyway. I like classic rock... I like some pop... and especially pop-punk. I pretty much do like most genres.

I have a personal dislike to metal and rap/hip-hop/r&b/whatever it goes by nowadays. Metal is just really hard to listen to, because of the vocals. I love the shredding and the rhythms, but the vocals kill it. Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B i put all in to one category because I, sadly, don't know the difference and tend to have a personal dislike to the whole genre.
I can take about, 3 seconds of mainstream MTV rap before I start hitting myself in the head with a louisville slugger wrapped in barbed-wire.

Metal vocals differs by band and genre though. I hate the "cookie monster" death metal vocals - it just sounds stupid and completely ruins an awesome riff. But a lot of metal bands use clean vocals. Metallica's vocals aren't exactly completely clean, but when compared to bands like Lamb Of God, they are clean, and they are still perfectly understandable. Porcupine Tree could be considered a metal band after recent releases, but Steven Wilson's vocals are as clean as any top 40 band. A good example of this is the song "Shallow" from the album Deadwing.
And hip hop isn't all so bad. After all, if there was no hip-hop, then there would be no RHCP, no RATM, no Incubus, and no Limp Bizkit etc. (actually, no Limp Bizkit is probably a GOOD thing haha). The early hip hop records sampled funk licks from bands like the Meters (such as "Timebomb" by Public Enemy). And RHCP pay homage back to Public Enemy by covering "You're Gonna Get Yours" before live performances of "Give It Away". I don't like, as you called it, "MTV rap".
The only thing I dislike about people who disagree with screame/growled/roared vocals is a lot of the time, a lot of people consider it incorrect of stupid because it's not what they like.
People agree that prejudice is wrong, so why isn't it when concerning music?
...and I'm not just trying to defend it... I like all sorts of vocals. It's just a different type really... and people go on and on when it really just biols down to preferance.

lamb of god are one of the most talented metal bands today...and a word for their vocalist...he can sing in so many different styles...you just have to listen to more of their music before you judge...

Fair enough. To be honest I didn't get much further than this song when I listened to them. Can you recommend any songs to listen to or albums to buy?
I don't dislike aggressive vocals though. I love bands like Pantera, Metallica, Down, etc. I think that screaming vocals just go that little bit too far. I will definately check out some more LoG though.
Blackholesun, I would recommend that you listen to Opeth's "Damnation" album. It's usually considered a progressive metal album in the vein of bands like Porcupine Tree. After that you could listen to their other albums with death vocals. Mikael Åkerfeldt's vocals, in my opinion, are much better than most death vocals. They're very guttural, but are very consistent, which makes them much less annoying.
Quite personally, I don't care for Emo/Pop Punk or Rap. Pop Punk contradicts the anti-corperate message that was used in creating Punk Rock. Rap is just exploiting women and saying a bunch of bad words over a set of music you did'nt even create.Modern Music is just a big get rich scheme with no creativity left in it. Music needs to get creativity back!
Wow LAMB OF GOD!!! yeah these guys kick some sweet @ss. I will put my thoughts down on music any music. I HEARD a band once and I thought, wow who the hell listens to this screaming crap. Then I opened my ears and actually LISTENED to the music and that band. That band that I thought was crap is now my fav band. I did this with pretty much all my fav bands, my top three at least. You see the problem with people, including myself, is that they only hear the music they dont actually listen to the music. Metal is the King of this.. people dont give it a chance. But it happens with all music. When you hear somthing for the first time you may not be attracted to it. This dosent mean that you dont like it, You dont even know it! So all I can say is be open dont judge off first impressions get to know the music, then decide if you like it or not.
@league , some musical taste you have there :D , i catched a pick from glen drover in a concert where I saw them live ;)
back on-topic don't much care for emo stuff , I can stand some hiphop and punk but it's limited :p , mostly thrash , heavy , progressive and power metal like judas priest , megadeth , dream theater , blind guardian , ...
and as far the death metal vocals , I'm not really a fan of them , sometimes they suit the song well though but mostly(95%) i prefer normal vocals , so for some death metal I have respect , opeth , in flames ,... but for most black metal(95%) not:D
Has anyone heard the Swedish metal band called "Pain Of Salvation?". They are really great, not many ppl talk about them so I guess they relatively unknown..?

I can't listen to a lot of metal music, but I respect it for the speed an energy they put into their music. I'm more of an indie/emo guy, and the whole scene really lacks any true instrumental talent, but most of the time, they have perfected their harmony and tonalities to an extent that it gives more emotion.
Currently, I'm more into modern age instrumental music. I'm sure I don't have to drop names like Andy McKee or Antoine Dufour or Tommy Emmanuel (at least I hope you guys know who they are... if not: please SEARCH THEM! you are missing out on a whole new genre of music).
But yeah, i completely hate most rap due to the repetitiveness and lack of true talent. Not all rap is talentless, but most of the mainstream rap is just as bad as pop music.
yeah , i heard of them , they have some really nice songs, but i don't know very much about them though...
Yeah I recently heard of them, and I've been listening through some of their albums. They have really nice music, I think. All I know is that they are from sweden ;)

lot o people wrote lot of stuff...... ill answer the first q...i hate with all my soul reageton or something like that... pop, punk pop, and other people that believe they play rock... i just cant stand them
Ya a lot of people had a lot to say.
I dont have a real type of music I dont like. I just dont like it when you see them showing off and/or having a bunch of girls on there just to show off. When they use there music to just make money I beleive it degrades the music. I think that if it moves you or you can feel it then it is good no matter what type or genres it is. I listen to heavy metal or rock, country and techno more lately. When I write a song it really dont sound like what I listen too.

Lol el.che.I hate regaeton too.Hopefully itll go out of style.I bet you hear plenty of that in Mexico. Its not even remotely Mexican.Mexico has great folkloric music. In my opinion mariachi bands have a punk vibe to them wih the speed they play and the themes, are very metal.
