So I got approved to play a couple songs on guitar at my school band concert this Monday.
I wasn't expecting this so I need some songs.
They need to be approved TOMORROW (talk about short notice)
They need to be "clean" lyrically, and not too over the top.
Any suggestions? This is really huge for me, and if I mess this up I am dead to everyone in the school.
And unfortunately I don't have too many choices on my iPod right now. |

I have no idea your skill level. Some easier stuff would be any Screaming Trees or Nirvana for alternative. Some better stuff imo would be some Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, or Smashing Pumpkins. |

Song 1 will be RHCP - Dani California
I'm debating Soundgarden or Smashing Pumpkins for another. |

Do an acoustic version of "Muzzle" by the pumpkins. Easy enough, and great lyrically! |

Rooster-Alice in Chains
1979-Smashing pumpkins
Pardon Me, Aqueous Transmission (there is a guitar version), Anna Molly-Incubus
Sober-Tool (without saying "jesus must have ***ing whistled" lyric)
Ohio-Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
Soul To Squeeze, Scar Tissue, or Under the Bridge-RHCP
and any Bruce Springsteen song.
The above are all relatively easy and only involve a few chords; as well as they can be played and sung together relatively easy.
BTW, don't do any nirvana... its just too unoriginal. If you want to do it than im not stopping you, but imho nirvana is a little overrated. I know I will probably get a lot of flak for that statement, so bring it on! |

I'm going to do RHCP - Dani California
and if there's time for another I'm gonna do either 1979 or Cherub rock by Smashing Pumpkins.
They were all great suggestions, but I'm weird with music and I loseinterest in certain songs, no matter how great they are.
Thank you all for your help. |

Well just got out.
The mic wasn't in place, I got thrown off a little, bit I managed to play it mostly right. I hit a couple harmonics during the solo, but they sounded good. Someone messed with my settings, which killed off most of the wah.
But they liked it. Unfortunately my dad couldn't figure out how to record until the last few seconds, but I think he took some pictures. |
