I dunnu guys, I don't MAKE music, I'm still kinda learning to play, but I think when I make my way thru my music's gonna sound (I mean the STYLE) something like John Frusciante from RHCP. What do you think about him?

nice...XD...i think john frusciante's sound is cool...Frusciante is well known for his intricate rhythms and leads...he supplies a strong mix of funk and rock music, which forms a substantial component of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' sound...as a highly respected and influential modern guitarist, John Frusciante ranked #18 on Rolling Stone's "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" in 2003...

I love fruscainte. he is a large influence on my playing. but that Rolling Stone article is, err... not very good. It misses off countless awesome guitarists, such as Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani. Kirk Hammett of Metallica is 11th, no sign of Hetfield anywhere on that list, even though his rhythm is central to Metallica's style. Jack White of the White Stripes is 17th, way way way above people like Frank Zappa, John McLaughlin, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmour, Toni Iommi and Angus Young, who is down in 97th! Kurt Cobain is 12th, Kim Thayil from Soundgarden is 100th. I'm not sure what they are ranking them by, if it's skill, originality or influence, but whichever way, its wrong! Anyway, I'm not going to preach about how c**p the list is, you can see it here, and make your own opinions!

Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Frank and Dweezil Zappa, Andy Timmons, Scott Henderson, Jimi Hendrix. I can keep on all day..
Billy Sheehan (bassist), Richie Kotzen, Tony MacAlpine etc.. This is my blues, rock influences, notice I didn't write neither petrucci nor "Yngiwe" because they suck.

My jazz and funk influences are Nils Landgren, Soulive, ZAPPA again :) well hope you all take a look at these guys
Have a nice day boys

People-wise would be:
Mark Morton, Willie Adler, Chris Adler (Lamb of God's drummer) Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, "Buckethead", Frank Zappa, Herman Li, SOAD's guitar player (forgot his name), Jimi Hendrix, Andy Timmons, and some more I've forgotten, A.J. (The Human Abstract's lead guitar player)

Band-wise would be:
Animosity, Job For A Cowboy, Black Dahlia Murder, Dimmu Borgir, The Human Abstract, Behemoth, Lamb of God, and so many more I could name

John Frusciante has probably been the most influential on my style, but I like and try to emulate a lot of players. Jimmy Page (probably my favorite guitarist of all time), Hendrix, Adam Jones (of Tool), Kirk Hammet, James Hetfield, Clapton (is God), Tom Morello, Jack White, the list goes on.

And I do have to agree, that Rolling Stone list wasn't very good. Hell, I'M better than Kurt Cobain.
