hello again!

I am writing a comp paper and I need to have a little bit of help with this. My thesis is that "music affects intelligence positively", and I've been mostly done with it for a bit now, but I need about 1 to 1 1/2 pages more of content and I've run out of resources about the subject.
I've talked about the "Mozart Effect", "BMT", and I'm now finishing up on the structure of music and how it affects us(think symphonies).

If you have any legit sites or articles that you think would help, please post them or PM them to me.

Thank you so much,
Case

Music composition really??? reminds me when my math(statistics) told us to write an essay on what statistics mean to us(first day or week too). I laugh and told him i don't write essays in math. needless to say i failed that class, but it was a low credit class i took it to fill a slot because someone said it was easy(i got the bad teacher).

i don't know if any of this will help but...........

or you could just walk in the room, play something that makes the professor cry (Danny Boy), pick up your A+ and go home.
Either way, Good luck Case.

Hi Case.

yeah I've already been able to use two of the links, the problem with my topic was that everything I found was so redundant that of the 8 sources I was going to use, I was only able to actually use 4, the other's just restated the 4 sources that I ended up using, and I needed more and newer information.

@bbt
lol
I don't know if its possible to write smart sounding lyrics for the class... we high school kids know everything, don't we? lol jk

I must say case, that's one awesome paper topic.

Being an engineer, I can say that most of the top of my classes in college were/are active musicians of some sort. Music and math are very similar and I always find it funny that people claim they suck at math but are very good at music theory. (I blame the teachers) but check some journals at your local library. Especially in the IEEE magazine and the ASME magazines. I've read lots of studies done on how much engineering and music and intertwined.

Also, if you have access to your local university check their music library. I know here at UT we have a guy (librarian-esque) who is very well-knowledged in the history of music and how it is used by the science world.

thanks josh! I'm going to try to find something on that and use it, I'm at 6 pages currently and need about 2 pages worth of actual facts and quotes and such... because I can bs the rest of it, but, my teacher doesn't really want to have me making the quotes up along the way lol

thanks again for the suggestions and help guys!

Define "smarter" or "smart". Most definitions will just say that a smart person is an intelligent person. However, that being said, by definition, to be intelligent simply means one is able to comprehend things better, so "smart" and "intelligent" are two different things. Anyway, my point is this: you can either say smart means to already contain an abundance of knowledge or that you are just able to comprehend any new knowledge that is thrown your way. In either case, if you were to say, read one of the lessons on this site to the kids in your class they would become smarter simply because they were either able to soak in this new knowledge, they were able to comprehend this new knowledge, or both.

And yea sure, someone in your class might already be music literate and know what you are saying, but you said you class is composition, not theory, and you are only 18 so you're prolly in a level one class (no offense), so I doubt everyone in your class will know theory stuff.

All you gotta do, based on the definition for smart is throw some knew info at these guys and say "Damn, you sure are smarter now aren't you?"

I say, actions speak louder than words...You can't be wrong.

That leads into affecting intelligence too. If you can get these dogs to understand the new information you are trying to teach them, they will be able to understand other music theory better. Thus, by definition, they become more intelligent.

Also I think Music and playing and a stuff increase people tolerance. That hopefully can lead us to a better world.

I'm studying that key now actually! Poor Josh! The only way to learn that key is on a morphine drip.

@Carl, Now give the kid a break Carl, let him use BOTH HANDS!
