well vintage marshalls have the most natural sound period, new marshalls are very far from natural.
but if your looking at new products orange has to be up there, they have amazing sounds. i also know a guy who builds custom amps that sound better then vintage marshalls they sound insane. if i didnt have my jmp then id have gotten his they sound soo good.
yes, i have tried a marshall, and i like them too. They have a nice sound as well. All of my friends have one, so i just thought i want something different, ha. But Orange is a good choice as you said for amazing sounds..if only i could afford one..arg

lets just say ones wallet gets raped. if ones wallet could get raped aboue 1500 times then id say that thts the amount.
yh a great marshall jmp from mid 70s would be mid 1000s maybe 1500 1300 1700 around there, thats assuming if u have a great cab already. the plexis are just insane, but remember your purchasing an investment. it will only go up

He did use Marshalls early on. Then he used Peaveys, then Fender [current] which work with him on all his signature gear Ex - the 5150 replica guitar and the 5150 III amp.

any tube amp. preferably fender in my opinion. the tubes are what give the amps its distortion. and certain tubes give certain distortions. the only problem with amps that use only tubes is that if you want more gain, you basically have to turn your amp up to 11. unless it has a gain knob of course.

Definitely Fender amps have the truest tone.
As for pure distortion nothing beats a Marshall.
There are high gain amps like Kustom, Mesa, Carvin ETC. but nothing comes close to the natural distortion of a Marshall except maybe an old Orange or Peavey.
This is from trying out at least two vintage amps from each manufacturer listed above.
As for solid state amps the most "natural" sounding would have to be Crate, Peavey, Fender, and Roland.
When the distortion breakes up suddenly instead of gradually it's definitely not "natural"
