Yeah, you missed out Pink Floyd and Hawkwind, unless you're counting them as psychedelic.
If you're a fan of 70s progressive rock then check out the album "Damnation" by Opeth. They are generally classified as a progressive death metal band, with the sharp exception of that album, which is entirely clean with lush harmonies and delay-soaked guitar.
There's also Porcupine Tree and the various side projects of the frontman Steven Wilson. Their music is a mixture of psychedelia, ambient, progressive rock, and more recently metal, sometimes all within one song!
You could also check out artists like Explosions in the Sky. They're classed as post-rock, which is a derivative of prog.
There's also prog-metal, with bands like Dream Theater and Tool
Thanks Chris! That's exactly what I'm looking for. I know about the prog-metal bands but I have'nt heard of the ones you have listed. I'll check them out!
Aye, ive been big Uriah Heep fan for long time. Also Emerson lake and palmer and Brand-X (early Phil Collins band) stuff hits the spot.
I think here are not mentioned... actually I dont recall to seen that name on any threads too, but Toto is one of the greatest and Im huge Steve Lukather fan :D.
One that are well worth to check, but I dont think its fit very good on progressive rock, but check these names : Deodato and The James Taylor quartet.

I was using www.last.fm the other day and it was giving me loads of new prog bands. It's a really good website for expanding your musical horizons.
When you register (free), it can scan your music library (Windows Media Player, iTunes or Winamp) to sort of create a musical image of yourself, so it can see what you like and what you don't like. Everytime you listen to a song it can upload it to the database to keep tracks of your current likes and dislikes, and then you can listen to a playlist of music that is recommended for you (if you don't like a track you can skip it), or see who or what you have listened to the most in the last week/month/whatever. Definately worth checking out.
-Jethro Tull
-Gong
-If
-Soft Machine
-Van der Graf Generator
-Caravan
-Camel
-Traffic
-Wigwam(I'm kinda surprised that Empirism haven't mentioned them already, as they're probably one of the most well known Finnish bands)
-Eloy
-Kaipa
+ you'll also find elements of prog rock on some Frank Zappa's and Captain Beefheart's albums.
Oh, and if you'll like Explosions In the Sky that BHS suggested(although it can be dabated whether post rock deriveted from prog rock or not), then certainly check bands like Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and of course- the most »progressive(in a classical sense)« of all post rock bands- Sigur Ros.
Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd ( although many consider psychedelic), Genesis, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Yes, Rush, Dixie Dregs are some the influential classic progressive rock bands.
Dream Theater, Tool, Opeth, Queensryche, Porcupine Tree are the more contemporary ones.
Btw, is anybody acquainted with the old progressive rock band Cressida?
Oh yeah, wigwam is incredible, Anyway, you also mentioned Camel there... ^_^, so good. When talked about progressive music, there is so many bands that should mention, cant remember everyone :D
Wigwam is a bit hard case to talk for people who dont know it. As you might know, there is a bit cult behind that band and its very legendary. If you search it for youtube forexample, you get hits from Wig Wam which is band from norway, who were eurovision contest once...
Now that's a list! I forgot about Camel, Gong and Soft Machine. What about Ambrosia? I know they had a slew of easy listening but at heart they were a progressive band.
