i was wondering what half stacks would be good for metal. or just a good all around stack that could put out some nice clean sound to? I looked at some marshalls but i heard they don't get a good clean sound. |

Peavey 5150/6505 (I think this is the name) are supposed to be pretty good. Also have a look at the Randall that Lance posted.
What's your price range? If you're looking at Marshall, then perhaps a Mesa/Boogie Rectifier would be in your price range. Maybe even some Orange amps? |

i dont like the jcm 2000's they get "fake"distortion, bad tone i think, id just buy a jtm reissue and then get tons of pedals like me. |

haha careful where you post that vince ;) there's a lot of haters of line 6 here lol
I'd recommend Line 6 Spider III's and IV's to beginners who don't know what sound they are looking for yet, since they do have a lot of flexibility and a beginner won't be concerned with tone at all(I wasn't aware of it until a couple of years ago lol) |

I'm just going to pray that vince was being sarcastic. ;)
I can't pass judgement on all line6 amps, i just have a profound hatred of their crappy digital sound, especially the spider series stuff. Those are the amps i've played.
In terms of the actual topic, i don't have a lot to add because i'm not into a lot of metal, but don't buy a vox. NOT METAL! |

I've got an Line 6 spider, and I am perfectly happy with it. It plays a wide variety of sounds and has a nice tone in my opinion. I don't get the line 6 hatred all across this forum ^^ |

Meh, the thing about tone is that its all about opinion. You're fully allowed to love whatever you want. I just don't like them. |
