JazzMaverick says:
Are you going? Would you be up for recording it? (If it's allowed)

I suppose I'm going.
I haven't got high end mobile stuff to record a decent live recording properly. It won't do any justice to the performance, I guess ;)
But like you said, the organization/venue wouldn't allow it anyway. But it's quite a big thing, there's probably a pro crew around to record it both the visuals & audio.

Well, exp, I hope you have an awesome time!

Nice choice jcb, Joe Sat has some interesting ideas, and fun melodic phrases. Though, he's not one of my inspirations.

New skills to show you guys :D

Michael Manring, he's a basist and a damn good one at that.

Then To-Mera, because I can't get over how insanely impressive they actually are.

Their progressive style is just amazing, I love them.

I'd have to say Billy Corgan was a HUGE inspiration to me. If it weren't for him, and The Smashing Pumpkins I probably never would have even had the slightest interest to pick up a guitar.

Good ole' Billy C.

i saw billy corgan and the smashing pumpkins cover band (joking) about a year and a half ago. im not gonna lie, it blew my mind how amazing of a guitar player billy corgan really was. the songs theyve recorded don't even compare to how they play live. it was probably one of the best concerts that i have ever seen. what really amazed me about it is that you could tell billy actually enjoyed what he was doing, and i really looked up to him for that.

for me, though, the artists that helped me the most was blind melon. i can't even describe how much that band impacted me and got me into music. hearing shannon hoon sing is like hearing a tortured angel, and its amazing how much personality and emotion the rest of the band each put into their individual instruments. Like what I said about Billy Corgan, Rogers Stevens (the lead guitarist for BM) actually looks like he enjoys what he's doing. in the video for Toes Across the Floor, he has this stupid smile on his face and keeps bobbing his head when he's playing. i think thats great, because i see a lot of musicians who treat their music like just another job.

anyone that can shred cleany with sweeping and tapping are what help and inspire me

jason becker has to be the guy that helps me push myself to my limits. if he can still write songs after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and fight the odd of death who knows what precedors after him could accomplish, he is a true inspiration to me.

I'm going to go with Pat and also make a new list.

Dime

Some of his best clean playing and a great solo.

Randy Rhoads. I think this proves Randy's shed-ness EMB.

Slash

Its the "Patience" solo live.

Brodyx, Nice. Blind Melon was awesome. It's shame he's gone man.
Yeah the Smashing Pumpkins are AMAZING live. I remember when I was HUGE into them I was only about 13 or so, and my dad braught my friend and I. Man.... I'd never been slack-jawed like that before in my life.

what amazes me is what Billy C. has been doing lately. He'll pretty much write an entire song, and then play it in concert with the full band the next day. It's kind of insane, but I guess a lot of the stuff he's playing live anymore isn't even on any records. That takes a lot of skill and dedication.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone mentioned this guy yet.

James Hetfield, and Metalica got me into metal. I remember Listening to Master of Puppets for the first time, and just thinking how James, and Kirk didn't light their guitars on fire whalen on 'em

I'm not a big fan of their new stuff, from Load up on through to the present, but I've gotta give 'em credit for keepin it going for soooo long

so this is really old, but whatever, i like the question so ima answer it. In terms of songwriting it goes to billy bragg, and dan mangan. However in terms of Guitar playing, neil young, dave gilmour, and dallas green(city and colour, dont get me wrong i like alexisonfire, but city and colour is better in my opinion.)
