I have a Schecter that has no inlays on the fretboard just positioning dots on the side of the neck. Question-how difficult is it to do an inlay job myself or should I seek help on this one??

Normally the inlays are done before the the frets are put in because it's then a flat piece of wood. But looking around on the vast interwebs it seems it can be done.

Loved the quote "Don't cut the bringt green sh!t"

I could think simple dots would be easier

Thanks telecrater. If I do it myself I'll definitely use dots. Just drill a countersink and glue it in. I've been playing guitars with markers for so long now trying to play without them it screws me up on the higher frets.

I have a Schecter and it has inlays like this

and really, I don't at all miss having dots on the fretboard, once you get used to just having them on the sides you don't really need them

I agree with BBT, I have an acoustic that is only dot marked on the side and I really haven't found the transition difficult!

Yeah. I actually would rather have inlays than not but more for looks than anything.

What's interesting though is that if you have been playing for years with inlays and dots then suddenly don't have them, you'll find that you don't need them. Your eyes will tell you need them but your fret hand will show that you don't.

I most likely will get used to it since I'm only having problems on the higher frets (18-24) and the it's mainly the e & B strings. I guess it's just personal but I like markers.

theres a website that has neck stickers, guitar stickers like the PG F-holes(loveee them), and other nice stuff for the guitar. I wanna get this black/white dragon inlay that goes across the whole neck like how a Jem has that flower sh1t.

But yea look for it on google. Im pretty sure you will find that website or something better.

@BBT

Hey man if you ever want to sell... haha

@Mosh

Dude you should get creative with the placement if it won't mess up the frets. Make a cool pattern or something out of the dots that's totally unique ya know? Or spell out M O S H Z I L L A haha That would rival only Scott Ian
