I am trying to be reasonable with my pricing and not be too greedy. I also just purchased a guitar and my wife will have my head if I don't recoup money by selling the LP. :o)

I would totally buy that if I was better at electric guitar and not about to invest in a lot of recording equipment :(

@gshred

I feel like I need more gear to get the tone out of it I want. My little line6 amp is crapping out on me, the settings barely work and the volume controls are iffy. On top of that, some of the pickups are going on my strat and they are causing a lot of hissing.

It needs to get replaced... I should totally sell it.

You should just buy the epi and sell your strat and amp and you well have a nice guitar and amp to work on your electric skills. :o)

@btimm. Lol,way to make a sale!

@jeff probably a grounding issue,on top of some single coils hum no matter how nice.And Yeah tone is a tricky subject thru small amps.My advice for that,keep the volume on a small amp low,so to not to overload the speakers,then you can tweak your eq from there,also do you use dist? or clean?

Did you sell it? It's nice! I want a silberburst but I just can't afford it. That price is right. I have had better luck with craigslist with this sorta thing. People want to see it and will meet you at a Starbucks or something.

@jeff
I had a similar problem, so I bought a 2x12 100 watt amp and stuck it in my room. Takes up more room, and volume rises quickly, but no tone issues. If it's an $800 Ibanez or a $50 rip off it still sounds great. And if someone down the street wants to be loud on their little 10 watt... Well plug your ears.

Also I got a distortion pedal, which I've nearly stopped using.
I'm out of another metal phase, but a boss ML2 is pretty versatile.

@ mac, not yet. I keep getting offers for trades, but my wife would destroy me if I ddi something like that. hahaha It is on craigslist at the moment, hopefully it sells soon. I don't really want to sell it, but I figure if I get $350 for it through craigslist, then it is like I just traded it for the Strat straight up, which I am fine with. It'd be nice if I could also get an extra $50 to use for other guitar toys, but a swap would still be cool imo.

Off topic, I am going through withdrawl symptoms now. I am at the beach for a family vacation and could not fit my acoustic, so after playing for like 10 hours since I got that Fender over the weekend, I now can't play until Friday. Doh!

you did buy your strat used, right?

i bought my first guitar new and i now realize how big of a mistake that was. when/if the time comes to sell any of my current guitars, i'll get pretty much exactly what i paid out of them.

i recently traded all of my camera gear from one brand to the other. on all the lenses i had purchased new i took a loss (obviously) on the resale. on all the items i purchased used, i made at least 90% of my money back and in some cases i actually made a profit because i had gotten such a good deal on them in the first place...

Yeah, I bought the Fender used through craigslist for $350. I thought it was a good deal. And when I went to play it and try it out, I noticed a ton of guitar equipment in very good shape, and the house was very clean. I know these details might not mean as much to some people, but usually this means that the people there take care of their possessions and made me feel more comfortable about this purchase. I agree with you - buying new seems kinda silly to me now, when I can get so much more value for my money buying used. fwiw, I feel the same way about automobiles as well.

well cars are constantly depreciating... so you are kind of screwed regardless. but i do think you lose less on a used car than on a new car...

yeah i agree about the seller "knowing" their stuff. with photo gear and music gear, every once in a while you run into someone selling something that is misrepresented, or the seller doesn't quite know what they are talking about. it's not necessarily a red flag, but maybe a yellow flag. a lot of people buy guitars with the intention of learning and never get around to it.

i paid $380 for mine, but it came with a hardshell case as well. i think i overpaid a little, but i just had to have the color (sunburst/maple which i believe is the same as yours. but mine's SSS).

of course i was trying out different amps at guitar center the other day (just so i know what model to buy used off craigslist!) and the strat they gave me to use was either olympic white or cream body, white pickguard, and maple neck... oh man, i loved it! hahaha dangit...
