Music Challenge The Third!

Hey everyone!

I've had a lot of deadlines with Uni so I haven't seen life on earth for a while!

Anyhuuuu...

I've had a thought...

My previous challenges, everyone has enjoyed - but not everyone was able to take part in. So! What I was thinking this time is of your own choice!

Basically... What I'd like you all to do is look for a country you wouldn't usually take any interest in and study it's music! Find a song or a number of songs and share! Tell us why you like and and what you think could progress from this! Also, it wouldn't hurt to try and take a look at it's history! ;)

Anyone who's up for it post a yes or something on here :D

I've decided on Korea. :)

@Gs Bela Bartok's great!! and it's funny to see the locals talking there songs back. If you play piano the Romanian folk dances are very fun to play my favorites are the 1st and fourth. The "stick game" and..... (runs over to look).... "Mountain Horn Song"


while I don't have the time to type a long thing. One of my favorite styles is western African music. It is really great and I recommend all to check it out much different than the rest of Africa and I find it to be much better. Has a lot more traditional Western Occidental roots (yes north Africa is part of the Occident). My favorite instrument is the Kora. and here is a clip.

Wow, that Kora is a wild looking thing isn't it? How'd ya like to change the strings on that sucker? it would take all weekend!

The pipa (pronounced "pee-paa") is a four-stringed lute, one of the oldest Chinese musical instruments with over 2000 years of history. The Okami soundtrack is the true essence of Japanese culture. (with a typical 4/4 rhythm!) :P I can't actually express just how much this song means to me, it's so damn passionate and powerful. I love it :)



This is from one of my favourite anime films "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time". Brilliant stuff.





Genki Sudo, one of Japanese most famous kick boxers also sings! Actually his music is really inspirational. Mainly his lyrics. They're based on the Buddhist belief and how to live your life peacefully. If you want the translation I'll gladly translate it for you guys :)
