Humbucker, personally :)
You should have given people the chance to write in new ones - because there are a lot more than that! |

@JazzMaverick Yeah i know, but these are the three main groups. these are just categories. like under Humbucker you got alnico and ceramic magnets, Seymour Duncan's, Gibson's or EMG's and so on. |

In my Les Paul, I got a 500T humbucker at my bridge and a 496R at my neck, both ceramic magnets. i wouldn't change them for the world, they sound amazing! But eventually i want to hook up a coil split on my 496R. Because that Single-coil sound is essential to me cause i like to switch from blues to rock a lot. |

EMG's all the way. Playing anything is else is just not the same. D-Activators (or whatever they are called) come close. Favorite set up is, EMG 60 in the neck and an EMG 85 in the bridge.
Rock on! |

um...Arn't P-90 Single coiled pickups just in the humbucker size and form factor?
I like single coils because they seem to have a better treble end, but my gretsch has humbuckers they have a lot of bandwith compared to my epiphone dot. My vote is humbuckers for now.

Coil tapping. Two in one, push for humbucker, pull for single coil. |

I have this on my Ibanez. It's pretty damn useful for quick changes in tone.
My opinion on pickups, i love EMG's! Have the active single coils (EMG SA's) on my strat to get a lovely Gilmourish sound. |
