Okay, I just got done with a talent show at school thursday. Well, everybody kept complimenting me, and about all 35 who did so far have said the singer sucked lol. We did Rooster by Alice In Chains. But thats not the point. Point is, when I was there, my Fender Frontman made me feel like a tiny fairy floating around in an odd land. Now, I need your help to know if this cab will work with my amp as a head, and not mess up any of the speakers/electronics.

Heres the cab - http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Marshall-MA412-Guitar-Speaker-Cabinet?sku=583691

Heres my fairy amp - http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Frontman-212R-100W-2x12-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=481601

don't know if you would need anything bigger than a 100W 212 man. Should definitely make a few ears start to bleed XD

Just my 2 cents and totally not helpful in any way, sorry XD

BTW Great song you guys did ;) "Yeah, here comes the rooster!"

Nooo. Every guy in town has at least a fullstack. The music just isn't too great haha. And yeah, it WOULD'VE been a good song if my friend could sing, and the one judge didn't fling a rubber chicken around the whole duration of the song lol.

why in the name of God, in this day and age, anyone would want or need a full stack and 100 watts is beyond me.

OzzFan ... you made the wisest amp choice of the lot imo

RAWK!

hahaha. It's not really the RIGHT thing to do, but it's that primal instinct kind of feel. They COULD hear me, I just have to go to around 5 or 6 on my amp. Whereas, with the others, the went to say...3 or 4 lol. Don't get me wrong though, theres some that can play pretty decent. It's just the typical screamo, loaded with gain and totally scooped mids. I just want to be able to annihilate some eardrums to keep up to the competitive standards basically. Soooooo, would that cab work with my amp?

Well Ozzy,
the MA412 is a match for the marshall 100W tube amp and your fender is 100W sooooo yeah, it should match up just fine. I won't get into why you prob don't need it because that's not what you asked and it's purely up to you little buddy. So the answer to the question you asked is "yup, get out the credit card and go shopping"!

Haha. Well I still have the Dean too. Annndd, they're seeming to slowly go under. But, thing is, I have no patience. So my dad says he'll probably just buy it off of me and rub in my face ten years from now when he gets like 2 grand out of it. haha. But yeah thanks Phip. For what I asked, but thanks everyone else for the convo's haha. And Dom, well, don't shoot them lol.

Hate to be Mr. Negativity here, but I'd still check if el.impedance of the cab is compatible with your amp before getting out that credit card of your dad's, Ozz.

Good point Calvin.
Ozzy's amp is 100W into 4 ohms (consisting of two 8ohm speakers wired in parallel)
The Marshall cab is 8 ohms. (four speakers).
Depending on how those four speakers are wired it is possible that they could be altered to create four ohms but I couldn't find a wiring diagram or specs on what the individual speakers ohmage is.
So, Ozzy, since your amp has a 4 ohm output and if you want to buy something that does NOT have to be altered I would suggest you keep looking for a 4 ohm cab or one that has a variable input switch.
You really don't want an impedence mismatch.

or here is another idea, get rid of the solid state amp, and buy a 50-75 watt tube, or pick up a 15-30 watt tube, and get yer amp mic'd

After my last show, I'm not trusting sound guys ever again. Sorry. Plus I don't have a PA.

EDIT - Phip, how'd you find out my Fender was 4 ohm? I need to know how to compare man. I can't find it on the page, or the amp.

EDIT Pt. 2 - According to this my Fender is 8 ohms - http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FM212R

Soory for all the info. I just really don't know what to do hear.

Ozzy, this is from the Fender site.........
http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=2316500010
Click on the "specs" header.
Whenever I buy a new product (could be anything i'm gonna keep for awhile) one of the first things I do is download all documents for the thing, and I mean ALL documents. I had recently been to the Fender site when I bought my new Tele so when Calvin posted his concern I immediatley went straight to them for the info.
As far as not knowing what to do, take some advice from an old timer. Slow down, take your time and print out the spec sheets for the stuff you are looking at as well as the stuff you own. That way you have all the info in front of you and you can compare. Always try to get the information from the manufacturer site. In the case of Marshall I must say that I find their site pretty but lacking in good solid info. Anyway, I hope this helps. Just keep asking questions and together we'll get there. ok?
Steve
P.S. You should also know that Fender makes a 4 ohm cab. It has 4 12" speakers just like the marshall cab and I think it is LESS money. see it here
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-FM-412-4x12-100-Watt-4Ohm-Cabinet?sku=601726
However, you should know that I looked at the owners manual for your Fender amp (you should download that too) and it does not show an external speaker jack. So............a jack would have to be installed that would connect your amp to external speakers (cab) while at the same time disconnecting the internal speakers. It can be done and it's not a giant job. But I would advise having a pro tech do the job.

So what you're saying is, my amp as is, isn't even made to be able to run a cab though it. F00000000000000000000ck. lol. Thanks for that man. You probably just saved me a lot of money haha. I'll have to reconsider all this. Plus, I was going to ask how to convert it to 8-ohm capability since there are very few 4-ohm cabs but to do both things is just more work than the amp itself is worth. Thanks to Phip, and everyone else though! You've all helped tremendously.

Glad to help Ozz.
And now for some editorial comment........
It should be said, and I know what the trend is here, believe me I understand better than you may know, that volume level does not directly relate to p*nis size. It’s true! They have nothing to do with each other. On the other hand it can be said that playing ability DOES have a direct relation to size and interest in your skills; on and off stage. If you keep practicing and you learn to play at your highest level of competence (say...like Jeff Beck) that 100W amp will sound like a 1000W amp instantly! And not a single person listening will notice how big your "cab" is. Trust me. I’ve lived long enough to know these things. And yet, you’ll chuckle but it won’t matter much. I suppose you’ll buy a bigger cab and eventually a bigger amp and then another bigger cab in a never ending quest to have a “bigger one” than the next guy. We are guys and there’s nothing that can be done about that. It is our curse.
When I was your age every guy had a big block muscle car and the delusion that this equated to manly prowess. But I knew a guy with a six cylinder Ford that would beat them on curvy roads every single time……because he knew how to drive and that was his “edge”. Let your playing ability be your edge, not the amount of “noise” you can make.

hahaha. Well, I actually got a *load of people to come up to me after the show thursday and say good job. A few of which asked for lessons which I'm about to take up on the offer for the cash. But still man. lol. MARSHALL. Say it with me haha. I know Elliott knows. It's just something I must have. And now that I'm finally in the range, I'm going for it. But, on the other hand, what you said is true. It's also quite perverse for us with dirty minds haha. But very true nonetheless.
