Hearing loss?

Hello everyone, this is a topic that really disturbs me. Here's the deal

I use headphones a lot, I use them for mixing recording listeting music etc etc, also I used to play with my amp at high levels with the speaker really really close to my right ear, wich now I regret

Now when listening to music with monitor headphones , I hear the things that Must be in the center, more on the left!!! This freaks me out! That can only mean that my right ear is F""""ed up!? Is there anything I can do? I'm really desperate, I'm only 18!

Before you freak out too much, get in the car and go over to a friends house; a friend with a really really good system and listen to the same songs there. Prove to yourself that it is or isn't your system that is screwed up or misadjusted. Assume nothing. If you have the same problem on another sound system, then see a doctor, take a break from the headphones and turn down the amp for awhile (maybe permanently). We aren't doctors here but you gotta use common sense when you are home playing and think in the long term about how to minimize the possibility of permanent damage to your ears. (Just ask Emperism about that, he's and expert on one such ear problem). If you do go to see a doctor explain your situation and ask a lot of questions about how you can protect your ears and still play the type of music you enjoy. Good luck,

Yes. Definitely do all the things Phip says. If after that you find you have developed a hearing problem, don't get too down about it. I've had a problem with (gradual) hearing loss for some years now, particularly on the left side. When the situation gets too bad I'll just see about getting fitted up with one of those 'hidden hearing' gadgets.
I know the 'authorities' have the occasional purge re noise pollution and do their best to frighten us into turning the vol down to number 5, but generally speaking our ears can take a fair bit of punishment before they totally give up on us.
Just use a bit of common sense, if your ears are hurting through too much volume for too long, tone it down for a while 'till they get better. I'm 56 now (about the same as Phip I think) and I'm still thoroughly enjoying everything from Deep Purple to Chopin. The big question is, am I right or am I lucky?

Im Sure i have a right ear problem,is HORRIBLE to listen to anykind of music (Rock,blues,psytrance etc etc) where there are supposed to be thing right in the center,and they are a bit in the left!

When listening with normal speakers,i cannot hear the difference,but when using headphones (Ive got 4 or 5 different ones here) the results are the same,more bass/response/volumen on the left ear than on the right,causing that horrible feeling of everything to the left,its not much,but is annoying!

That sounds bit different problem than mine, cuz I suffer tinnitus... I somehow have an hunch that it might be your system rather than your ear, but definately visit doctor just incase or do like Phip said and confirm that with friend or other systems.

when using headphones, we easily turn up the volume, because it sounds better that way, but like you have good gears, its rather surprising how low volume you can work with same results... its just that your ear get used to it. Like deefa said.

Vince,If you´re not gonna say something useful to the topic,or atleast that it stays on topic,dont say anything. Speacially when reffering to something that might be serioous like this,me being a musician and on my way for a musician / Audio Engineering career is something serious,so i cant keep it simple.
