that's not a bad idea, honestly if it saves you money go for it, but don't do anything that you aren't sure about(though I know you've heard that millions of times before) |

yeah i have, especially as a kid, i just went to uncrew the preamp tubes to check them but it wouldnt go with a little bit of force so i didnt wana force it out of there so now am asking how do you take out a preamp tube
btw i think my problem is a power tube, however i have a groove tube preamp tube thats light is kinda dim but seems to be working... however it looks like 2 of my tubes are broken (power tubes) when i play and the staticy sound comes, a flashing blue spark comes and is in accordance with the static sound... |

if you have an electronics store around, they will test your tubes typically for free
if you lived near me, i'd test em. It's a worthwhile purchase to by a tube tester, they usually are cheap |

heres my conclusions me moving the power tubes doesnt cause change which leads me to believe 2 things,
1) the power tubes need changing at lest 2 arnt working
2) i think something may be up with one of the transformers/ brightness capacitor, i couldnt localize that problem... |

I know this is off-topic but do all tube amps cause this much trouble? |

you said extra cap in your original post? Was that soldered? If you are having no problems out of v2, I would bet your tubes are just fine and that the problem is on the board dealing with the v1.
I can't do much over the internet, it is sounding more like a hands-on job. But careful with the caps, they can put a hurt on you if you don't discharge them first.
and ozzfan, no they aren't any worse than a solid state reliability-wise but they are more difficult to fix for the layman |

With as much trouble as you have had with this amp, I'd sell it and get something more reliable. Every couple of weeks it seems you got something going on with it. |

im starting to think what you think telecrater... its just i cant honestly buy an amp on ebay and consider myself to be "safe" with that buy, you never know what your getting really, just gotta get lucky, and theres no vintage ones in any stores... |

DUDE!!! Not to get you all giddy about this, but I'm pretty sure thats what it is! My amp does the same thing. It's not ALL the time, but when my mom runs the mixer [or beater idk. The electric thing that mixes cake batter] my amp cuts out. I actually had to shut it down and tell her to let me know when she's going to use it. And the kitchen is directly below my room. My house is pretty old too btw.

yeah, and especially with the old circuitry and old amp it effects it more.
MY HOUSE IS SO OLD! "HOW OLD IS IT?" everythings connected on one circuit! thus if my sisters hair dryer blows the power off on the whole house (like it normally does) ALL the power goes off for the house! not just her room and stuff...
i remember when i used to play my amp in my room, my mom would run the treadmil, and id get signal problems, everytime she put her foot down my amp would flux in volume (go lower) and my moms not a heavy person...unless u consider 120 5'8 heavy...or round 5'8i m not sure...
anyways... it may be that, what i think i may do is put this amp out of commision, repair it, use it for gigs, at band practice (which is at a new house) and dont use it at my house...
OR to phip or any other electrician...
is it possible to run new wires (power outlet) from my basment to an acctuall power source not just to a deads end? in easier terms, would i make a plug in my basement soley for my amp that is grounded? |

If the amp isn't DAMAGED you could always just get a little pocket amp that goes on batteries. lol. Beware of the tone though. For practice I wouldn't suspect it being to bad. Or just play acoustic at home if you have one. |

good thinking!
grab a 30 to 50watt 1x12" or somesuch, clubs hate big amps, and now that we are past the 70's and 80's 90% of large-room and outdoor gigs have good enough monitors and(50% o'the time) side-fills to negate the 'need' for anymore muscle than that. besides, lol, one day you will get really really sick of load-in/out with a head/cab setup ;~)
RAWK!
