Trem systems on les pauls

I have an Epiphone Les paul Special 2 and im considering getting a floyd rose trem and a locking system put built into it,
anyone know of any pros or cons from doing this like will it change the sound of my guitar etc??
any opinions or answers would be greatly appreciated

Better go and buy a new guitar,it will be almost the same cost,also is quite hard to make it fit,and also,les pauls are hard tails,thats their job! dont change it!

Still if you want to do it,is ok,nothing will change except the fact that tuning will be a bit harder

Ive seen Les Pauls with a Floyd Rose, and the first thought in my mind was "I Want One"

It doesnt effect much. Just the Whammy bar and locking nut. And More holes.

It might be cheaper to just buy an ibanez, but its up to you

Buy an Ibanez if you really must have a Floyd. Les Pauls are very easily maintenanced guitars and doing that is a shame. Plus, if you decide you don't like the Floyd, theres no going back. I bought a Dean ML with a Floyd and the maintenance was a ****. Luckily though, I still have my LP. I'm currently trying to sell the Dean so go figure. Floyds are good, but the crap you have to go through to keep it right is way to much for all it does. Input > Output basically. Seriously, just buy a cheap guitar with a Floyd to see if you like them. I wouldn't go all out without having experienced it.

I agree with ozz, I'm tired of dealing with Floyds all together after using a tune-o-matic bridge.
Much better tuning stability and much less of a hassle.

@ case, ive never had any trouble with my floyd rose. Sure switching strings is longer and more complicated, But my old tune-o-matic always just got in the way and had a horrible impact on tone. With the locking nut i never have to tune anymore too.

let me just say this, putting ona floyd on the epi spec 2 is more then the guitar is worth. honestly ive played that guitar. its a piece of crap (no offence) and if you like lps and wana stick with epi get a standard or plus top or somthing that will sound better then custom it. dont custom a spec 2. they suck. sorry. anad personally about floyd roses i dont like lockers, theyre a ** to change, tune, etc, and it prob will just make it sound worse (idk ive never had a guitar with it) i do have a bigsby and if you wana get a whammy go with those. youd be surprised what they can do

floyds don't really affect tone that much, they may sound a little more "tinny" but that's nothing a little less treble couldn't counter act.

but they are a pain in the ass.

try intonation on one of them... you'll hate it I swear lol
They aren't uncomfortable, my hand isn't easily deterred just because of a bridge it just takes some getting used to, but the tune-o-matic should have been the problem with your tone. it's pretty basic and actually allows for more sustain naturally than a floyd does.

Great if you like to use the whammy a lot, but I've changed up my style to hardtail's, it's just a preference, nothing more.

changing strings was the easy part though

I had to intonate and tune and adjust the action when i got it. I found it easier to intonate and adjust because everything was right there and i didnt need to search for a flat screwdriver to fit anywhere. And the thumbwheels on my les paul still wont move.

BTW: I whammy a lot, and i whammy heavy. Which is how i killed the Squier

lol alright man, if you can tolerate it, then enjoy it! lol I just can't bring myself to do it again, I prefer playing and writing over working on my instruments
