I got my distortion pedal. It takes a 9V battery, and the power light started flashing suddenly. Is my batt dying? After 5 minutes?

did you bypass the pedal? and if the battery was old, or a dud it could be the case. look up your pedals manual or read the manual and look in the troubleshooting areas.

I've got one of them washburn pedals and it' never flashes when the battery is dying the led will grow dim and you'll start to loose any sound.

Make sure you buy name brand batteries. Thats what I found. My Morley wah pedal burnt up a Dollar Store 9volt in less than a minute.

Don't forget to unplug your pedal when not in use!!! Leaving it plugged will drain the battery faster than Bolt can run a 400m dash.

Yeah when I got my pedal I left it in, came back the next day and was like what? It's out of battery, put in as new one, plugged it in, then realised if the GUITAR side is in, it uses battery, even if it's off.

Soooooo
I think you need to unplug the GUITAR side when using a battery.

Yup. You got it. guitars with active pickups need unplugged too. Acoustics/electrics as well. the batteries will be draining the whole time they are plugged in. I've killed my bass batteries I don't know how many times.

I had the bypass off and all sides unplugged. It died a minute ago.
Btw, it was a brand new Energizer 9v battery.

I always turn off, unplug and separate everything when done.
But the pedal drained it when it was completely off

Was the battery really warm when you pulled it out? Either you got a short or a bad solder joint in the pedal somewhere or you have a bad batch of batteries. Do you have a power supply for it? You may have to go that route or exchange/get a new pedal.

Batt Wasnt warm, No power chord (None fit)
Got on Ebay.
New batt, holding up For now.

Strange though, its more of an overdrive. Except the few seconds as it died. That was an awesome distortion
