what are some songs that aren't too difficult
and were meant to be finger picked ?
for instance "silent lucidity"
it's a beautiful song, but i've just about mastered it already
and need to start on something else while im still inspired
to continue finger picking.
by buddy at the guitar shop suggested Dee by Randy Rhodes but i'm
not sure i'm into that song.

How easy do you want it to be?
The first finger picking song I learnt was Hammerfall - Imperial. I still like that simplicity type of song.
Ignore the fact that this is on Guitar Hero, but I didn't like the playing by the random people on youtube. So I thought the actual verson of the song would be better. I have this on Tab if you want it. I wrote it out two years ago.
i would like to write my own fingerpicking songs but i dont really know where to start. should i be picking a melody around chords? is that a way to think about it?

Yeah, that'll be a good way of doing it. Or if you want to make things easier for youself, start off with deciding which key you want to play in, then from there, choose if you want it to be major/minor/diminished/etc. and then work on what types of chords, then start playing the melodies.
Personally, I just mess around and never follow the rules anyway.
@Jazz, that would be really cool if you could send that tab of
imperial. simple but still sounds cool. email lec666@yahoo.com
dust in the wind is just a smidgeon to fast for me right now, though
it's w/o question on my list to do.... actually i shouldn't say fast,
it's just my fingers are trained to play the triplets in silent lucidity
i need to teach my fingers to go backwards now...haha
@Bodom though i did ask for easy,i should point out not something
that will make people question my sexuality...lol
@tele
the sad part is i was never into any kind of folk or anything really
acoustic,so i'm so unfamiliar with dylan,the bird etc...anything i
knew that was acoustic was mostly ballads of the 80's

and lance this is the perfect chance to explore some of that music
I learned to finger pick off of Bob Dylans "don't think twice" it's a great tune and has some really cool sounding chord changes. but that area was was really the golden age for acoustic music and such. maybe I'm out of line saying that but there was lots of good picker and good music being made.
ok...started toying with dust in the wind, but i think the tabs i have
for it may have extra notes in it. after listening to the song,
if i'm not mistaken there are 2 guitarists playing at the same time.
so i'd have to guess the interpretation is both guitars tabbed as one?
